Online Learning Plans
During School Closure

Dear Parents,

First and foremost, we appreciate your patience as we have spent today planning and preparing for online learning.

The decision to implement online learning statewide was made by SCDE with the hope that we will NOT need to make-up the current school closure dates. SCDE has asked all schools to provide 200 minutes per day of online learning opportunities for all students. (Students enrolled in high school credit courses should expect up to 240 minutes per day, depending on their schedule. Additional information for each class will come directly from your child's teacher.)

A final decision about make-up days as well as if and when we will conduct State Standardized testing is still unknown at this time.

We will continue to communicate with parents via email as additional information comes available. We will also post information to our website and on Riverview’s Facebook page so please check them often.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR CHILD’S
TEACHER EACH DAY

Your child’s daily assignments, including daily Specials content, will be emailed to parents (and middle school students) by 9am starting Wednesday, March 18 . If you do not receive an email from your child’s teacher by 9am this Wednesday, please reach out to them.

All teachers will maintain “office hours” from 9am to 11am, and from 4:30pm to 5:30pm each day. These are the best times for you and your child(ren) to communicate with their teachers. Questions that arise after 5:30pm will be answered the next morning between 9am and 11am.

Teachers will be monitoring assignments and providing feedback to students throughout the day. You never know when you might hear from them!

Teachers will be taking daily attendance based on work completion. If your child is sick, please provide a note to your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher just like you would do normally. In keeping with school policy, parents are allowed to excuse up to 5 days each year. For an absence to be considered excused thereafter, a doctor’s note is required.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOUR CHILD EACH DAY

Integrity, cooperation, perseverance, mindfulness, empathy, gratitude, optimism, stewardship and their best effort - just like when they are in the school building!
WHAT PARENTS NEED TO PROVIDE TO ENSURE THAT THESE NEXT FEW WEEKS ARE A SUCCESS

Patience. The current circumstance is unprecedented, and at this time there are more questions than answers. Please continue to extend the benefit of the doubt (plus a healthy dose of grace) to your children and the Riverview staff with the belief that everyone is doing their absolute best to meet everyone else’s needs...even when things don’t come together exactly as we would hope.
ONLINE DIGITAL ACCESS

During the current school closure, most of your child’s assignments will be online. Most of our digital learning platforms are web based and can be accessed from any wifi (or cellular) device. This includes iPods, iPads, laptops, desktops or cellphones.

With this in mind, if your child does not have access to any of these devices and needs to borrow a school device, please click here .

FAQs with information about common school related IT issues will be available on the school’s homepage starting tomorrow (March 17). If you are experiencing technical difficulties with your home WiFi, your internet service provider will be your best resource. Likewise, each online digital platform (iReady, IXL, Dreambox, etc.) has a tech department that is best suited to resolving issues that arise within their platforms. Nonetheless, as always, you are welcome to reach out to us by emailing support@riverviewcharterschool.org if you believe the issue is something we can resolve.
