Happy Holidays! As we begin our celebration of the festive season, our thoughts turn to the extraordinary support and encouragement that the Museum receives from the College, the local community, and friends from afar. We look forward to celebrating the spirit of the season through the visual arts, the musical arts, and through the art of conversation and conviviality. Please join us at festive gatherings this month, including George Lopez's much anticipated concerts on December 13 and 14. Also, be sure to visit the Museum's newest exhibition,
Material Resources: Intersections of Art and the Environment, which opens on December 6. Wishing everyone a joyful conclusion to 2018.

Collectors' Collaborative visits Storm King and Finalizes Acquisition
Now in its twelfth year, the Collectors' Collaborative organizes art-related gatherings twice a year for alumni. Its membership also contributes funds to make an annual acquisition for the Museum. Led by co-chairs Isabel Taube '92 and Ellen Grenley '06, the Collaborative is a wonderful way to see friends and to stay connected with the Museum.

An Altarpiece for Bowdoin
The Museum of Art recently acquired its first multi-panel altarpiece, a triptych, ca. 1518-19, created in the workshop of the Antwerp artist Jan de Beer. Painted in luminous oil colors on oak panels, the work describes in engaging detail the
The Adoration of the Magi, framed by renditions of
The Nativity at Night, with
The Annunciation to the Shepherds (left panel), and
The Flight into Egypt (right panel).
