What Student do When Classmates are Testing: Some families have asked what a student who opts out of the Forward test will do while other students are taking the test. While the approach may vary a bit across all teachers, in general, students can expect the following: When students in Cohort 1 are testing at school, Cohort 2 students along with All Virtual students and Cohort 1 students with opt outs will participate in teacher provided asynchronous learning activities. Later in the week when Cohort 2 students are testing at school, Cohort 1 students who tested earlier in the week will participate in the same asynchronous learning that their classmates completed earlier in the week; All Virtual students and Cohort 1 and 2 students with opt outs will have this time to work independently on assignments of their choice. The pattern will repeat across future testing days and weeks.
Opting Out: Although this is a State-mandated test, families do have the option to decline testing this year for what the State calls "safety reasons". If you wish to decline FORWARD testing for your child, please fill out the short form at the below link. Families have the option to decline testing for safety reasons regardless of whether your child remains virtual or returns to in-person school.
All Virtual Students and Testing: The FORWARD test must be given in-person here at Hamilton, and will be taking place April 21-May 14. Students staying all virtual but wanting to test will have to come to Hamilton at designated times to test in a location with other virtual only students (masks and six foot distancing will be enforced and group sizes will not exceed 20 students). If you would prefer to opt your child out of testing, please complete the short survey at the below link.
