Town Hosts SDCC's Spotlight on South Dade
On Wednesday, November 13, South Dade Chamber of Commerce's Spotlight on South Dade event was held at Town Hall. The recurring event provides an opportunity for local business and community leaders to network and learn about various topics from key speakers. During the event, Mayor Tim Meerbott had the opportunity to address attendees and discussed the opportunity zones located within Cutler Bay.
The South Dade Chamber of Commerce is a group of business people working together to build a healthy business environment, cultural advancement and social harmony. Their mission is to strengthen the economy of South Miami-Dade
and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors through programs of voluntary action to preserve and protect the American system of free competitive enterprise; and to advance the economic, civic educational, cultural and social well being of the South Dade community.
Learn more about them, or become a member, by visiting their website:

Saw Palmettos in Town are Transplanted through Group Collaboration
From November 15 to 17, the saw palmetto plants located
along the intersection of Marlin Road and Old Cutler Road were transplanted to their new home at the wetland restoration site by Old Cutler Road and Eureka Drive through a group collaboration that included: Council Member Roger Coriat, long-time Cutler Bay resident and environmentalist Eduardo Varona, the Town's
Public Works department, the South Florida Water Management District, Town contractor VisualScape, several student volunteers from Robert Morgan High School and various Town residents.
Earlier this month, Council Member Coriat
and Mr. Varona transplanted two of the Saw Palmettos as a trial to determine how much time and effort it would take to move these plants.
For as long as Florida has been above water, Saw Palmettos have played an integral role in the ecology of the region and recent evidence suggests they may even have a lifespan of a few thousand years!

There's a New Bus Stop in Town!
We're happy to announce that starting Monday, November 25, our Town Bus Circulator (Metrobus Route 200) will be stopping in front of JC Penney at Southland Mall.
We've been working with
Miami
-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works
for some time to make this happen so our riders can safely arrive at the mall without having to cross through the parking lot.

This holiday season... lock it or lose it!
Unlocked and unattended vehicles + valuables inside = A car hopper's target...
As we approach the holidays, now, as always, it's important to be cautious and alert to avoid being an easy target for car hoppers.
When leaving your vehicle remember to:
- Take your valuables with you
- Hide them from sight, if you cannot take them with you
- Always lock your vehicle
If you see any suspicious activity, report it by calling 305-4-POLICE (305-476-5423). For all emergencies dial 9-1-1.
Be smart. Stay safe. Lock it or lose it!
