As a responder to current needs, we recognized that an unintended consequence of the new CT state plastic bag ban was a shortage of bags local food pantries would have to provide regular delivery of food to those who needed it most. We immediately ordered 5,000 reusable bags and provided them to the pantries with the help of ACME Monaco Corporation, their trucks and drivers.
In 2019
, three families joined our Beehive Legacy Society
informing us of a planned gift in their estate plan that will benefit funds at the Foundation. Additionally,
eleven new funds
were established with the Foundation, one of our best years ever for new funds, and our board voted to increase our spending policy in 2020 so that our grant awards will now be based on 4% of the funds rather than 3.75% which will provide even more funds to organizations doing amazing work to support communities.
Being that it is December 31
st
and only hours remain in 2019 I wanted to also remind you that if you’d like to make an online gift to add to your fund(s) in 2019 there is still time. Just go to
www.cfgnb.org
,
click on the GIVE NOW! button
at the top and select your fund from the drop down menu on the gifting page. We would also appreciate your consideration of a gift to our Civic Leadership Fund which helps us provide even more grants to the community’s areas of greatest need. We’re only a few thousand away from our goal for this year.
Finally, in you haven’t already,
please LIKE us on our Facebook page
. We’ve doubled our LIKES this year and it’s a great way to stay connected to what’s happening in the Foundation.
Happy New Year to you and yours and thank you
again for your support of our mission to Inspire Philanthropy, Manage Charitable Assets Responsibly, and Partner with the Community to Address Key Issues through Strategic Leadership. Your support makes this possible.
