Dear NAAAP Detroit Members and Honored Guests:
Thank you so much for being a part of our Community Conversations on Emerging Careers. We are grateful to our accomplished speakers, wonderful sponsors, and engaged participants for making the event a success.
The stories and insights from our speakers pointed us to a mindset that may have been somewhat unexpected. While the social and digital transformations may put certain skillsets more in demand, the most important skill needed to adapt to these changes is “Complex Problem Solving,” which requires a “Growth Mindset.” We were reminded not to be reactive and chase jobs that are highly desired now but may be replaced by automation soon. The takeaways were to step out of our comfort zone, be adaptive, curious, and differential. Be fearless and carry your own sunshine!
A deep gratitude goes to our planning committee members and volunteers. No adequate words can express my deep appreciation to you. I particularly like to recognize a few people who have played significant roles in planning and executing the program. We can honestly say that without their leadership and dedication, the event would not have been possible. They are: Asim Alavi, Daniela Buccaran, Sharon Dow, Candy Geeter, David Han, Vince Mercader, Henry Tanaka, Sook Wilkinson, and Yahang Zhang.
We would like to invite you to join the all-volunteer team at NAAAP Detroit. Go to

Warm Regards,
