Historic Stole Will be Returned
St. John's is once again blessed by the Close's! Tilly Close has lovingly paid for and preserved a replica of the stole worn by St. Thomas a Becket, which was commissioned by her Mother. At the request of Darcey Hale, Tilly has agreed to donate a special case for the stole, so it can once again be displayed in our Church.

School Prayer - Jeff Moredock
Our children, who sit at desks
Many are your names
Your time will come
And will be done
In life as it was in school
Give us each day
Our daily lesson
And forgive us our failures
As we forgive you yours
And let us not lead you
Into temptation
But protect you from all evil
For you are our hope
And our promise and our future
Forever and ever
Amen

Prayer List Reminder
We believe people with acute or serious chronic conditions benefit from the prayers for our collected community. If you would like to add people to the list, please send their names to Katharine Preston ([email protected]).
Names must be to her by Wednesday evening of each week to be listed in the bulletin, read during Sunday's Prayers of the People and printed in the Quick News the following week. Please be sensitive to informing Katharine if names should be removed as well.
Prayers of the People
We pray for those within our community known only to you who are challenged by a serious illness. And for Carol Calhoun's daughter Sarah and her step-daughter Celia; Scottie's friend, Carol; Christopher Whalen; Jerry Macey; Sally Johnson; Matt Looby; Rob Close; Ed; Jill; Vivian; Judith Moore; Dottie Hall Swinehart; Helene Gray; and others known to us....
A prayer for the family of David Martin - Almighty God, Father of Mercy and Giver of Comfort, Deal Graciously we pray, with all who mourn that casting all their cares on you, they may know the consolation of your love. Amen.
HOLY DAY - St. Michael and all Angels
Scriptural word "Angels" means messenger from God. Christians have always felt themselves to be attended by helpful Spirits - swift, powerful, and enlightening. Of many angels spoken of in the Bible, only four are called by name, Michael, Gabriel, Urial, and Raphael. Michael is the patron saint of countless churches. Archangel Michael is the powerful agent of God who wards off evil from God's people. And delivers peace.
Prayer
Everlasting God, Mercifully grant that your holy angels always serve and worship you in Heaven. So by your appointment they may help and defend us here on earth. To Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
