The Talk on Tenth

Trio of Events Highlight Beginning of September
Opening Mass, President's Breakfast, Return of Speaker Series Provide Valuable Experience
The smell of hot dogs and paninis is back in the air and Bruce Springsteen can be heard throughout the Commons. With two successful weeks under our belt, it's safe to say Marquette is back in the swing of things.

And while routines are beginning to develop for both students and staff alike, the unofficial opening of the year will take place next Thursday with the Bishop's Mass and ensuing President's Breakfast. All are invited to share in the celebration of the holy sacrament before breaking bread with President White.

With Catholic faith and service at the core of our mission, this occasion marks a truly special day of the school year. The Marquette community is most fortunate to receive the blessing of Most Reverend Bishop Donald J. Hying as we embark on another year of enriching our minds, bodies, and souls.

Marquette is excited to announce the return of its Speaker Series. On Wednesday, our young women will be graced with the opportunity to hear Joan McClendon, Associate Director for the Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative, share her wisdom and experience as a leader in the nonprofit sector. One of the most active members of the South Bend community, McClendon also serves as Operations Program Director at the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.

Guest speakers grant our students invaluable access to practice in addition to theories learned in the classroom. We thank Ms. McClendon for her graciousness and generosity.

We hope to see you next week as we continue to empower our students with the knowledge and moral compass to Be More.
