Florida Atlantic University named Sarah Milton, Ph.D., the interim chair of the department of biological sciences beginning July 13. "She is one of the leaders of our faculty and will provide an important bridge to the future of the department," said Rod Murphey, Ph.D., associate vice president for academic affairs of FAU's John D. MacArthur Campus. "Her research focuses on conservation biology and the physiology of environmental stress. News publications such as the New York Times and National Geographic often features her work. During the past 13 years, she has demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, mentoring students, as well as administering the Marine Science Graduate program and the Integrative Biology Ph.D. program. We look forward to her leadership of the department."
Ken Dawson-Scully, Ph.D., associate professor of biological sciences in FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and a member of the FAU Brain Institute (I-BRAIN) recently provided a special guest seminar at the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center at Bar-Ilan University in Israel. Dawson-Scully discussed his current research in a talk titled, "Protein Kinase G modulates seizure duration in C. elegans using a novel electroconvulsion assay.” Dawson-Scully also presented seminars at Hebrew University and Ariel University. During the historic trip to Israel with Governor Ron Desantis, FAU signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with universities and organizations to further strengthen the university’s ties with higher education and research in Israel.
