Phone System Upgrade
Dear Friend of 2-1-1,

As you may know, Eden I&R/2-1-1 Alameda County has been working for months to prepare to move to a new cloud-based phone system that will complement our cloud-based database.   The move from our current phone system to the new system will take place on Tuesday, August 14 between 8 am and 9 am . Every effort has been made to avoid extensive downtime or unplanned outages, but we wanted to share this news in advance so no one is caught off guard by a possible outage. We are also announcing this move on our 2-1-1 phone greeting for incoming calls leading up to August 14.
This is an important improvement for 2-1-1 Alameda County and will offer greater enhancements to best serve our callers. It also adds value to 2-1-1’s disaster response role including in the event our physical call center is damaged, this technology will allow us to continue taking calls from anywhere with an internet connection. This means 2-1-1 Alameda County will be up and running with our own local staff much more quickly in a disaster and will not have to rely solely on the assistance of our sister 2-1-1s in other regions.

As a reminder, our Health and Human Services Database ( 211alamedacounty.org ) and Housing Database ( achousingchoices.org ) are also available online if you would like to search for resources.

Thank you for your patience during this time of change. Please know we have a recovery path in place should an unacceptably long outage occur and will provide email updates as needed. We also recommend you follow us on facebook or twitter for the most up-to-date information.

Best Regards,
Alison DeJung
