Dear StJPII Families,
I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready to be back! The time is here! Our saint faculty and staff are so excited to welcome you to school tomorrow for the 2018-19 school year! We have all been on campus planning and preparing for your arrival and are anxious to see you and begin the new year.
As you are anticipating having to wake up early or worried about who will be in your homeroom class with you, remember to “Be not afraid…” Trust in Him and He will provide all that you need! I encourage all of you to share that message and spread joy about the opportunity to learn something new each day!
Don’t forget we will celebrate Mass the first day for the Feast of the Assumption so wear your full dress uniform and then you can wear regular dress on Friday this week. Also, I know you have been working on your summer Math and Reading packets, so bring them in to show your progress!
I look forward to seeing you tonight at Meet & Greet!
In Him we trust,

Carpool Procedures
You may read our
Parent Student Handbook
for a complete overview of carpool line procedures, including rainy-day carpool. Here are a few reminders about our process:
·
Starting Thursday, parents are not allowed to walk their students into school. You must use the carpool line or walkers.
·
Students in PreK-2nd Grades should be sent to school with a name-tag listing their full name, homeroom teacher, Family ID# and how they are going home (carpool, Brimhurst, Manderly, BASP) for the first week of school.
·
All PreK and Kindergarten students waiting for older siblings will be kept in Mrs. Layfield's Kindergarten classroom. Please instruct older siblings to retrieve them and escort them to their dismissal location.
·
Write your Family ID# on the outside of your student's backpack.
Fire Lane
Please do not park along the red curbs in the parking lot. This is a fire lane and needs to remain clear at all times. Thank you in advance for using the visitor parking spaces when dropping off/picking up your children for the BASP program, early dismissals and late arrivals.
Reserved Parking Lot Spaces
Please respect the parking spaces designated for a particular individual or staff member as indicated. Visitors are welcome to park in the designated "Visitor" spaces in the parking lot or along Parkway Plaza next to the school during non-carpool hours. In appreciation for their volunteer efforts, we have reserved a space for our PTO President and Clergy visiting the school. These individuals, as well as our business assistant and administration, attend meetings or have business away from the office throughout the school day and many times when they return someone has parked in their space, so please do not park in these spaces even for a brief moment. Of special note are the spaces along the soccer field fence reserved for our part-time staff. Please do not park in these spaces during the hours noted.
Visitors to Campus
To ensure the safety of our students, all visitors and parents are asked to enter through the front doors of the main building and check in at the office where you will be asked to provide a driver’s license or valid ID. The license or ID will be scanned by our Raptor system, and once cleared by the system, the individual will be issued a visitor or volunteer badge. Parents will only be asked to do this the first time they visit StJPII each school year if they have gone through the Volunteer Approval Process.

On behalf of the entire PTO, I would like to welcome you back to the 2018-2019 school year, or if you are new welcome to St. John Paul II! The PTO is very excited to continue providing activities that help promote the spiritual, educational, physical, and cultural development of our children. We are blessed to have such a dedicated group of moms and dads who make this mission a reality in programs like Altar Society, Library Aides, Fun In The Sun, and Art a La Carte, to name a few.
When thinking of our new school motto “Be not afraid…” I couldn’t help but think of my first time going to a PTO meeting and volunteering for a committee. I was afraid. I didn’t really know anyone and I didn’t know what to expect. I’m so glad that I went so many years ago, because I have met a lot of great people, many of whom I call my closest friends. As a result, I also feel that I have contributed to this great community in a meaningful way.
So I ask you to “Be not afraid…”. Please plan to attend PTO meetings and volunteer for one of our many activities to help enhance your child’s StJPII experience. We need you and I hope that your involvement in the PTO is mutually beneficial. And the great thing is, everyone is already a member!
Prayers for a wonderful year ahead,
Andrea Dvorachek
2018-2019 PTO President
P.S. Mark your calendars! The first PTO meeting will be September 5 at 8:15 a.m. in St. Jude Hall.

Do you know why St. Jude is so important to StJPII?
When StJPII was conceived, it was said that there would never be a Catholic School on the west side of town. Not to be deterred, the laity who were committed to the cause started planning and praying for our school. In their devotion, they prayed to St. Jude, the patron saint of hope.
St. Jude is second only to the Lord Himself in being instrumental to the success of our school. Whether big challenges or small inconveniences, when asked, St. Jude intercedes on the school’s behalf so that our actions will be pleasing to God. Our school has no better friend than St. Jude who is always there for us, and for you.
This summer, a new painting of St. Jude was installed in St. Jude Hall. It was created and donated by former families. The next time you are in SJH, please take a look!
