NAAAP Detroit joined 2019 NAAAP National Leadership Academy

President's Message
In early April, I attended the NAAAP National Leadership Academy (NLA), co-hosted by the three Florida chapters of NAAAP, the Orlando, Miami, and Tampa Bay. This event was held at the United States Tennis Association National Campus in Orlando Florida. Proudly representing NAAAP Detroit, this was a great opportunity for me to network with NAAAP members from all across the country. A young leader from Minnesota, Phillip Xiao, wrote an article about the event titled “The New Asian-American Voice.” The article will give you some insight into the contents of the meeting.
Another highlight of the NLA was the NAAAP Kansas Chapter’s presentation on the upcoming NAAAP National Convention in Kansas on August 22 – 24, 2019. They are doing a superb job of planning. I hope you’ll have the chance to attend it. Follow NAAAP Detroit for more information about this convention! It was also announced that the 2020 National Convention will be hosted by the Washington DC chapter. NAAAP hopes to be heavily involved in the 2020 election process.

- April 28, 2019 - Our signature Learn and Grow Workshop on Trending Topics for 2019.
- May 9, 2019 - Our Field Day to join the Asian Pacific American Day at Michigan State Capitol as part of the Asian American Heritage Month Celebration.
Stay tuned for our summer plans: a fun experiential learning exercise, and building alliance with other organizations.
