Principal Alvarez
This was our first week back since spring break and we have now begun the final nine-week quarter of 2018-2019. With the start of April, we also begin our annual "testing season" with the Florida Standards ELA and Writing Assessments on Tuesday, April 2 - parent letter and testing schedule. Please remember that Wednesday, April 3 will also be a regular, full-length school day to make sure those students taking the SAT/FSA across the district have plenty of time to complete their tests.

I would like to thank all those parents and guardians that invested a little time this month or during February to complete our annual parent survey. Once the results are tabulated, we will review them and incorporate the findings into our school improvement plans wherever possible.

As a continuing campus safety reminder at the start of a new quarter, I ask all students or family members to say something right away should you ever see or hear of something suspicious or unusual. Please reach out to any teacher, staff member or our school resource officer. Thank you for your continued help as campus safety is of the highest priority at Tildenville and across all of Orange County Public Schools.

Have a great weekend and thank you for your support in advance as we begin testing next week (please see Ms. Revangile's 5 testing tips for parents below).

Parent Engagement / Testing Tips

Greetings parents,

Thank you for attending the Parent-Teacher Conference and the Parents vs. Staff kickball game. Your involvement was greatly appreciated!

Testing season is here! Here are 5 tips to ensure your student(s) does their best on the test!

Tip 1: Make sure your child gets an ample, normal amount of sleep the night before.

Tip 2: Eat a nutritious and a filling breakfast.

Tip 3: Mark testing days on your calendar to help remind you and your child when the testing will take place and plan your preparations.

Tip 4: Make sure your student is on time (if not early) on the day of testing.

Tip 5: Offer positive reinforcement. Remind them to do their best.

Physical Education
The Billion Mile Race

The Physical Education program has entered into a Billion Mile Race, found at billionmilerace.org, in which 8,999 schools in the country participate. This ties in with our Healthy Heart running days and Morning Mile. This program allows us to track our miles that the students run and puts us in a position to secure grants and funding for our program.

Currently we have totaled 6,988 miles throughout the school year. This includes all grade levels. I'm proud to say that out of 9,002 schools nationwide we rank 78th overall, 3rd in all of Orange County, and 10th in the state of Florida. Good job Tigers!
