We all know how important the Indian River Lagoon is, so researchers at FAU’s Harbor Branch have created the Indian River Lagoon Observatory Network (IRLON) to continuously monitor different water quality parameters. All this information is publicly accessible through our new website.

The Indian River Lagoon (IRL) Symposium is the result of a multi-institutional, multi-agency effort to provide a forum for discussing Indian River Lagoon science and its application to management of the lagoon. The symposium is open to scientists, decision makers, students, education and outreach professionals, and the interested public. The theme for the 2021 symposium is IRL Research during the Pandemic. Technical sessions consisting of oral and poster presentations will be held virtually on February 18 & 19… Register

Hunter Hines, Ph.D. at FAU's Harbor Branch received an honorable mention for his image titled, "Green Sun." With its large pink shell, the iconic queen conch is deeply rooted in the way of life for Florida, The Bahamas and the rest of the Caribbean. However, intensive fishing and habitat degradation have caused queen conch populations to significantly dwindle throughout their range. For 40-years Megan Davis, Ph.D., Research Professor at Harbor Branch, has been studying the queen conch life cycle, and is the world’s foremost expert on queen conch aquaculture – the farming of queen conch. Her philosophy is to work in the communities, with the fishermen and citizens, to grow conch for food, restoration and conservation... Support
