Letter from the Library Director

Dear Library Patrons,

As you know, Massachusetts is experiencing an outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. A respiratory illness, it is spread from person to person and is occurring in countries around the world.

The Ventress Memorial Library is committed to the health and well-being of the public and our staff. At present, there is no change in our hours, operations or procedures. However, we are taking some preparatory steps:

  • Throughout the Library, you will find hand sanitizers. Public service desks also have hand sanitizers and hand sanitizer wipes. And best of all, we have plenty of hot water and soap in the bathrooms.
  • When borrowing materials, please respect the personal space of library staff and patrons. If you would like to use the self-check machines library staff members are available to assist you.
  • Please return all materials through the book drop.
  • We are doubling down in our cleaning of high-touch areas, such as door handles and other surfaces.
  • This is a great time to explore our entire virtual collection, including streaming movies, TV, and music.
  • Have materials that are due but can’t make it to the Library? Just call us, we’ll work with you.
At present, we are not making any modifications to our programming calendar - Click Here!

We will use the library’s website www.ventresslibrary.org to communicate any changes in service because of the Coronavirus, so check back. Or call us at 781-834-5535.

There are simple things you can do to help keep yourself and others healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Seek medical advice if you develop any of these symptoms – Fever, Cough, Shortness of breath

Thank you,

Cyndee J. Marcoux
