Fourth of July Celebration
Lakeside's Fourth of July celebration begins at 10 a.m. with the Children's Bike Parade departing from Perry Park.

Following the bike parade will be the Fourth of July Parade at 10:15 a.m. This year's Grand Marshall will be Keith Addy. While now a year-round Lakeside resident, Addy's first Lakeside experience was in 1985 as a youth group camp counselor. In 1987, Addy sold his business and applied to work at Lakeside per his friends' and family's suggestions. He got the job of Vice President of Arts Programming. He held this position for nearly 20 years, stepping down in 2004.

FAQ for the Pool & Wellness Center
As Lakesiders enjoy a fully functional Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus for the first time, the Lakeside staff is working hard to ensure that all individuals are informed about the new facility so that they can easily incorporate health and wellness into their daily lives.

We have been having conversations with people about their concerns and listening to their questions. As a result of these conversations, we have found several points of information that we would like to take the time to communicate. Read more...
Prayer Breakfast with André Thornton
Lakeside welcomes André Thornton, former Cleveland Indians first baseman, for a special event highlighting his faith journey. He will serve as the keynote speaker for Lakeside's 2nd Annual Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 in Wesley Lodge.

In addition to Thornton's story, the Prayer Breakfast will also include a testimony from Abbey Allerding, the girls' basketball coach at North Canton Hoover High School, who leads her team to championships despite having multiple sclerosis. Purchase tickets.

Preacher of the Week: The Rev. Starsky D. Wilson
This week is supported by the Gretchen A. Curtis Endowment

The Rev. Starsky D. Wilson is a pastor, philanthropist and activist pursuing God's vision of community marked by justice, peace and love. He'll serve as Lakeside's Preacher of the Week from July 1-6. This week is supported by the Gretchen A. Curtis Endowment.

He'll preach at the 10:30 a.m. Hoover Community Worship Service on Sunday, July 1 in Hoover Auditorium.

Medical Advances
Experts, including Francis Price, Jr., MD, founder and President of the Cornea Research Foundation of America, share advancements in the areas of organ and tissue transplants. 

Travels with Neil Zurcher

Neil Zurcher, author and Cleveland "Fox 8 News" reporter, shares tales from his more than 35 years on the road as the host of "One Tank Trips."

The Cleveland Pops Orchestra with Carl Topilow
Northeast Ohio has been the home of The Cleveland Pops Orchestra since it was founded in 1993 by Carl Topilow and Shirley Morgenstern. This symphonic-size, professional ensemble performs popular and cinematic music, jazz, big band and Broadway, as well as light classical works.

Family Night in the Park: Blue Lunch
The late 1940s and early 1950s were a pivotal time in American musical history, when blues, rhythm & blues, swing and rock & roll were all still one genre, not yet identified as what they are today. Blue Lunch explores that music and makes it all their own.

Laura Schroff "Angels on Earth"
Laura Schroff, international and #1 New York Times best-selling author, will speak at Lakeside. A book signing will follow her lecture, and all of her books will be available for purchase at the lecture and The Fine Print bookstore. Schroff, who has written An Invisible Thread, An Invisible Thread Christmas Story and Angels on Earth, will speak on the power of acts of kindness and human connections.

Tuey Wilson - Comic Stunt Juggler
As an entertainer, Tuey Wilson's performances go beyond the usual displays of juggling skills and include a wide variety of manipulations; it simply can't fit into one categorization. From the simplicity of tricks with coins and yo-yos, to the complexity of his 10-part combination tricks, Wilson's shows run the gamut.

Live Entertainment at the Steele Memorial Bandstand/Gazebo and Pavilion
To celebrate the Fourth of July, music will be played from
11 a.m. to dusk. Performers include JK All Day, magician Michael Mage, Stadium 11 and Honey & Blue.

Farewell Angelina
Named after a haunting Bob Dylan song, Farewell Angelina is an all-female country group with four powerhouse vocalists, dynamic songwriters and talented multi-instrumentalists.
Their blend of heart-stopping harmonies over double violins and guitars has earned soaring praise.

The Midtown Men 
The Midtown Men reunites stars from the 2006 smash Broadway hit musical, Jersey Boys. Formed in 2010, this popular vocal group has been widely praised for their signature renditions of the greatest rock & roll songs of the 1960s. Together, they've played more than 700 concerts in North America, Europe and Asia and have headlined more than 30 symphonies, including The Boston Pops and The National Symphony.

Get Up & Glow Fun Run & Dance Party
Light up the night with us at
9 p.m. Thursday, July 5 at Lakeside's first Get Up & Glow Fun Run & Dance Party.
 
The entire Lakeside community, of all ages and athletic abilities, is invited to an after-dark party where they can deck themselves out in glowing accessories and race from the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus to the Pavilion East Deck.
 
There will be games, a photo booth, black lights and a DJ to keep the party going until 11 p.m. Glow sticks will be provided to all race participants. All racers, spectators and dancers are encouraged to wear bright colors to light up the night against the dark horizon of Lake Erie. Register online

The Rhein Center presents an afternoon activity for Lakesiders. Participation is $1-2 per project, and the activity changes weekly.

Pet Parade
Sunday, July 1
2:30-4 p.m. Central Park Basketball Court & Steele Memorial Bandstand/Gazebo
All pets and their owners are invited to participate. Serving as this year's grand marshal will be Lucy, a spaniel therapy dog, escorted by Jody Geyer. After the parade, pets will perform their favorite tricks and awards will be given.

Pirate Adventure

Children ages 7-11 are invited to take to the seas for a wet and wild adventure with the Lakeside Wooden Boat Society.

These 30-minute rides begin at
6 p.m. with the last ride departing at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for adults and $6 for children (ages 4-12). Hour-long sunset cruises aboard Amazing Grace start at 8 p.m. The cost is $32 for adults and $10 for children (ages 4-12).

Bishop Todd O'Neal, Pastor at the Joy Christian Ministries in the Cincinnati suburb of College Station, will lead our community in a congregational song and worship gathering for three Fridays this summer while he's here with the "Lakeside for Youth" camps.

Sign up for Rhein Center Classes
Online registration with credit card payment opens at 8 a.m. each Thursday for the following week's classes. This year, the Rhein Center will also be offering Saturday classes.   
Kids Needed to Deliver Lakesider Newspaper
At 9 a.m. Fridays, kids ages 10-15 are invited to the Legacy House, 217 Walnut Ave., to deliver Lakesider newspapers.

On Saturday, 12 children ages 6-10 are needed to hand out the Lakesider on the Hoover porch from 7:30-8 p.m. Report to the porch at 7:15 p.m.

Volunteers will receive their choice of a free Coffee & Cream soft-serve ice cream coupon or miniature golf coupon.

Trash & Recycling Services
Curbside recycling and trash service is offered at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and Friday until Aug. 31.

Walk or Bike to the Pool
To lessen congestion at the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus, we encourage you to walk or bike instead of drive a car or golf cart.

Keeping Lakeside Safe
As an increased measure of safety, the Danbury Police Dept. will have a noticed presence in Hoover and around Lakeside this summer. Keeping Lakeside safe is our priority, and we're thankful to have their support.

Looking for a place to stay this summer? Book a room at the Fountain Inn or Hotel Lakeside. Lakefront rooms at Hotel Lakeside starting at $135.
Cottage Rentals
There are two cottage rental companies in Lakeside that offer weekly rentals. Availability, amenities and costs can all be found online. For questions, call either Lakeside Chautauqua Realty or Street Sotheby's International Realty.
