Happy Valentine's Eve to all,

Just a reminder that CMS has announced the make-up day for last Friday's inclement weather event for Monday, January 17 (was originally a teacher workday).  This will be a "B Day" for Electives to replace February 7.  Our Saturday Academy will continue this weekend for select students from 9-11 am.  Finally, our "Straight A Honor Roll Breakfast" will be held in the gym tomorrow morning at 8:00 am for 6th grade families and 8:45 am for 7th/8th grade families.

Next week is our annual Family Involvement Week.  Please review the information in the section below showing all of the events next week, which include Book Fair, International Night, Black History Month Program, and Davidson Basketball.  PTSA is still in need of volunteers to help run Book Fair next week.  Please use the information on the flyer to contact PTSA if you can help for an hour or two throughout the week.

Due to a generous donation, we were able to purchase rights to show the documentary Screenagers to our community on Tuesday, March 3.  This FREE event will be held at Hough High School in their auditorium starting at 6:30 pm.  This documentary gives parents some real facts and tools to help guide our students.  Please see the attached flyer for more details.  You can also go to screenagers.com for information about the movie.

8th Grade End of Year Picnic
Just an FYI to all of our 8th grade families that we no longer have a formal promotion ceremony for 8th grade.  Last year we initiated this change to an event that the kids will enjoy, which turned out to be really great.  We will continue the new tradition of the "8th grade Picnic" on June 8.  More information on how to volunteer to assist with this event will be sent out later this spring.

Student Led Conference Reminder
As I mentioned in last week's edition, students will be required to complete a student led conference with parents at home.  They should have brought home a yellow form that will guide your student through the process of having a conference with a parent or guardian.  Parents will need to be an active participant and will have a small section to complete on the form, along with their signature.  The reflection form will need to be completed and signed by the student and parent as verification of completion.  This is a required assignment for all students, but they will receive extra credit upon turning in their reflection form.   If you student lost their form, I have attached one for you to use.  These are due back to their Thunder Time teacher by tomorrow!

Create A Great Day,

International Night

International Night
Bailey Middle School's annual "International Night" is scheduled for Thursday evening, February 20th. This annual event showcases and celebrates the diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the families at our school. This event is a great way to introduce Bailey students and their families to customs and traditions from all over the world. Every year the event gets bigger and better!

We are looking for parents and students to volunteer as ambassadors for their country/region by decorating a booth, dressing in traditional clothing, and sharing art, food, music, games, etc. Bailey will provide the tables for the booths.
As an incentive to volunteer, students that participate with their families by setting up a booth will receive extra credit (bonus points) in their choice of subject. Students that attend the event and get their passport stamped will receive extra credit in Social Studies.

Character Ed - Integrity

Each month we celebrate a different character trait, that ties with Bailey's 7 Habits!  This month we celebrated the students below for demonstrating Integrity.  These students were selected by their core teachers for showing such high levels of character.  We are so proud of them and thank all of the families and friends that joined us in the celebration.
Next month's celebration will be help on Thursday, March 5th and we will celebrate Empathy.
