WTC Anchorage Partners with UAA Confucius Institute

WTC Anchorage supports the mission of the University of Alaska in many ways. Since its establishment as a part of the University in the late 1980's, WTC Anchorage has been actively participating in University's programs: WTC staff serves as members of various boards and committees, the Center provides internships and discounted event passes for students, and invites University faculty and staff to participate at nearly all WTC major event as presenters. Understanding the importance of international relations and trade for Alaska, WTC Anchorage was one of the core local organizations that assisted UAA in establishing a Confucius Institute in 2008. WTC Anchorage's Executive Director Greg Wolf serves as a member of the advisory board of the Institute. The Confucius Institute is a program of the Chinese Ministry of Education that promotes understanding of Chinese language & culture and supports student exchanges. UAA Confucius Institute is a member of WTC Anchorage.

According to Annie Ping Zeng, Associate Professor of Chinese, Director of UAA Confucius Institute, Department of Languages, College of Arts and Sciences, University of Alaska Anchorage: 

"The UAA Confucius Institute (UAA-CI) has partnered with WTC Anchorage to help promote Alaska-
China relationship in terms of business and economic development of mutual interest. The  UAA-CI has presented short lectures on the Chinese culture and brought business Chinese language learning opportunities to WTC Anchorage annual Alaska-China Business and Trade Conferences. We will continue supporting WTC Anchorage to facilitate cross-culture communications between Alaska local companies and their Chinese partner companies."
