Looking Toward this Sunday March 18, 2018
5th Sunday in Lent

Sermon: Travel Light. Trust God: Seeing Jesus
Scripture - Jeremiah 31:31-34 and John 12:20-33

The Rev. Robert M. Alexander will preach at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary and at 9:45 a.m. in Lingle Chapel.

The Gospel Reading for Sunday begins with a story of "some Greeks" who had gone to celebrate the Passover Festival in Jerusalem. They had heard all the chatter about Jesus and wanted to meet him. They went to one of the disciples (Philip) and told him, "We want to see Jesus!"
Really? Are you sure? And do you want to just see Jesus from afar to check it off your bucket-list? Or do you really want to meet him and get to know him? And if you get to know him will you be willing to listen to what he says and allow yourself to be transformed by his love? Will you decide to follow him and to serve him?
We never find out whether the Greeks get to meet Jesus, but we do learn a little bit about what it means to truly see Jesus for who he is. As the church, we must ask ourselves if we are willing to see him clearly. If we are, then perhaps we are willing to reflect that same life and love to a world that wants and needs to "see Jesus."
Hope to see you Sunday as we reflect together on these and other thoughts on our Lenten Journey.

The Geneva Choir will sing Ave Verum at the 8:30 service.
The Chancel Choir will sing Psalm 139 at the 11:00 service.

DCPC  is in the process of installing a new digital soundboard in the Sanctuary.  Please be patient if you hear any issues with audio during the service, as we are working through glitches associated with the new system.

NEXT SUNDAY is Palm/Passion Sunday. Both 8:30 and 11:00 services will be in the sanctuary, and worshipers will experience the passion story through dramatic reading and musical interpretation. The service begins with a palm procession, and children are invited to gather in the narthex before the service.

Volunteer Readers needed for Palm/Passion Sunday,
8:30 & 11:00 am Services

We need 7-8 volunteer readers from the congregation to read portions of the Passion Narrative next Sunday, the 25 th.  Volunteers can read at either the 8:30 am or 11: 00 am service-or both.  A short rehearsal will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 24 th, in the sanctuary.  Please contact Rev.
