Christ Covenant School is a community that loves, educates, and equips our students to transform the world for Jesus Christ.
|
|
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
|
Straight from the Head
|
The mission of Christ Covenant School is to transform the culture, not be transformed by it. 1 Timothy
4:12 exhorts us to "let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity." Creating that standard of purity and holiness is a constant process of redemption in a world stained by sin.
Our school works to mold young men and women for leadership roles in the church and the world. Our policy manual explains our desire to establish an environment of mutual edification, trust and respect on page 28 in reference to our harassment policies. As we are heading into the last quarter of school, some instances have brought to our attention the need to highlight and reinforce these policies with our students.
Next week we will have one breakout session at the upper school where our students will be separated into groups of young men and young women. This will be only for grades 7 and up during part of our lunch period. With male teachers addressing males, and female teachers addressing females, we will reinforce the standards of speech, purity, dress, and demeanor that are a part of our school culture. We will talk about the power of our words and the need to use them to edify others. We will also address the standards of modesty in our dress code in light of the warmer weather and social events such as the Middle School Social and Formal events.
For our lower school students, we only ask that you as parents join us in maintaining an environment where students are kind and respectful. Review on your own the standards of dress and speech in our policy manual, and continue to celebrate with us the pillars of respect, order, unity, diligence, humility, integrity, and courage as they are shown in our students.
Thank you so much for trusting and partnering with our school as we seek to hold up a standard of excellence and purity among our young people. We realize that God's desire for our holiness is often a stark contrast to the world's system. If you have any clarifying questions about these topics, I welcome your input. I would also add that if you as a parent are not comfortable with the nature of these discussions for students in grades 7-12, you may certainly request your student not attend these policy reinforcement discussions and have them on your own.
Our desire to stay true to what the Scriptures say as well as the bounds of our current policy when addressing these topics, and our teachers will be brief and tasteful in their comments.
Thank you for your partnership and trust,
Robert Lee

Poetry Recitals |
Next week is Poetry Recital week!
This is one of Christ Covenant School's oldest and most important annual traditions. It is a time when each student in grades Kindergarten through 12th Grade chooses and commits a poem to memory. After weeks of practice, students will publicly recite it in front of a small audience of peers and family. Join us for an enjoyable time to celebrate the accomplishments and benefits this program brings to our children.

Parent Teacher Conferences |
- Parent-teacher conferences: Thursday, March 29 12:30-4:30.
- This is a 1/2 day for students with release at 11:45 a.m.
-
Should you sign up?
Parent-
teacher
conferences are optional and open to any
parent who has an interest in meeting with
teachers.
If you are unsure whether you should sign up, our advice is that you schedule appointments only as needed in the interest of preserving limited appointment slots to benefit
parents whose child(ren) may need specific guidance. If your child is already performing well (straight A student or A/B overall), and you are satisfied with their academic performance and progress, a scheduled
conference is probably not necessary unless you have a specific concern. Either way, we welcome your input/questions and regardless of our Parent/Conference scheduled days, our teachers are available at any time to discuss the progress of your child.
Some
parents have said they feel compelled to attend
conferences as a way of demonstrating support for their child's academic development. Please be assured that this is not the case, especially if your child is performing exceptionally well.
If the available time slots do not meet your needs, we encourage you to contact your child's
teacher directly.
