David Wallace,  Executive Director

Our Mission

For seven years, our mission has been simple, but ambitious: operate a free, volunteer-powered health clinic that provides high-quality, primary care to the hard working uninsured men and women in our community. Because they simply cannot afford to see a doctor, a majority of our patients come to us ill or suffering from chronic disease that has gone unchecked or undiagnosed for years. Every day, we are aware that for most of the working uninsured in our neighborhood, our free clinic is the difference between life and death.

As the executive director of  Clinic by the Bay, David Wallace has more than 20 years of experience managing various non-profits, serving communities in need, and working with volunteer groups worldwide. His career has been dedicated to serving a vast array of constituencies, including individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, queer youth, the working poor, at-risk youth, and the Black community around HIV/AIDS. David lived and worked abroad for several years, serving the U.S. Peace Corps - recently, he was the Director of Management and Operations for Peace Corps in Lesotho, and from 1997 - 1999 he was a volunteer in Kazakhstan. He has one son, Kyle, whom he adopted out of the foster care system.
