NO Eventide This Wednesday
Campus Cleanup Begins; Worship Services Resume This Sunday, Feb. 4 at All Saints
We look forward to resuming worship services at 8 and 10 a.m. on this Sunday, Feb. 4. It's been way too long since we have been in community in our own Sanctuary with one another. There has been tragedy and sadness which have affected us all. Last Friday night, our chief pastors, the Rt. Rev.  John H. Taylor , Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and the Rt. Rev. Diane Jardine Bruce, plus the senior  clergy and staff of the LA Diocese and our own clergy, led a service of healing and hope at Trinity Santa Barbara.
We are grateful to Trinity for their hosting of All Saints during our period of need.

Now that our own campus is open, our
utilities are being turned on and all of our facilities are being cleaned after their use during the mud slides, it's time to gather in community in God's home at All Saints.

We will see you on Sunday, at 8 a.m. for our regular service and at 10 a.m. for an Intergenerational service.

NOTE: there is NO Eventide service Wednesday due to the ongoing campus cleaning. And there will be no Sunday School on Sunday, only the Intergenerational service at 10 a.m.
No Eventide on Wednesday or Sunday School on Sunday; Intergenerational Service on Sunday
We will see you on Sunday, at 8 a.m. for our regular service and at 10 a.m. for an Intergenerational service.

There is NO Eventide service Wednesday due to the ongoing campus cleaning. And there will be no Sunday School this Sunday, only the Intergenerational service at 10 a.m. prior to the regular 8 a.m. service.

The Parish School is working this week to transition back to the All Saints campus and expects to resume on Feb. 5.
Photos Available of Visit From Our Bishops, Senior Clergy and Staff of the Diocese
Last Friday, representatives from the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles -- the Rt. Rev. John H. Taylor, the Rt. Rev. Diane Jardine Bruce, the Rev. Canon Melissa McCarthy, the Very Rev. Canon Michael A Bamberger, Canons Janet Reinecke Kawamoto and Bob Williams, and the Rev. Pat McCaughan -- spent much of the day focused on the pastoral needs of All Saints.
The Rt. Rev. John Taylor, left, the Rev. Michael Bamberger, the Rev. Melissa McCarthy, Ed Fuentes of the Montecito Fire Protection District and Rev. Aimee speak following the tour of the devastation of Montecito.

They heard Rev. Aimee tell her story of what transpired on Jan. 9 as the mudslides destroyed lives and property and how All Saints became a haven from the death and destruction. They toured Montecito and saw first hand how so much was lost in a moment as water, boulders, mud and debris took so much from so many on that fateful morning.

A complete photo album of the visit and also of the destruction is available by clicking on this link. Some may find the destruction hard to see -- these photos do not tell even a portion of the loss experienced by so many.

Bishops Lead Pastoral Care of All Saints During Service of Healing and Hope
The Rt. Rev. John Taylor, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Suffragan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Diane Jardine Bruce, the Rev. Melissa McCarthy, Canon to the Ordinary for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the Rev. Aimee Eyer-Delevett, Rector of All Saints, the Revs. Vicki Mouradian and Paul Collins, and representative of the Diocese and the parish of All Saints lead a "Service of Healing and Hope" at Trinity.

Following the service, a community meal was prepared for all. Bishops Taylor and Bruce, plus Rev. Melissa and Rev. Aimee spoke following the meal. They shared heartfelt words of condolence, hope, resurrection and healing.

Music Director Nelson Huber led beautiful music during the Taize service, which included a choir from All Saints and others from the community.

It Takes A Village

Thank you to the 30-plus volunteers who helped set up, bring food, offered to bring food, and cleaned up for our Community Dinner after the Service for Healing and Hope at Trinity Church on Friday, Jan. 26.  I would love to list you all by name, but I am afraid I would leave someone out, and you were all so vital to the success of our meal together. You know who you are and God does too!  You were a great team and I am very grateful for your energy and support.

Your friend in Christ, Sally Messerlian

We caught Sally by surprise as she was leading the team who prepared the comforting and healing meal. We are thankful for Sally's ministry of welcome and hospitality.

Remnants of Medical Triage, Evacuation Site on All Saints Campus - Moving Photos Available
As you have likely read by now, All Saints served a vital role during the Jan. 9 mudslides to save lives and shelter those in need. Two stories from the Episcopal News Service can be read by clicking here.

Click on the first image below to see photos of the remnants of how the All Saints Parish Hall, the Parish House and the Bears Room at the Parish School were used to help those in need during those tumultuous days. All of these left-over items will be returned to neighbors or donated to local charities.

All Saints Collecting Relief Funds; Please Consider Giving to the Victims or the Church
Many people have asked how they can help. All Saints-by-the-Sea is collecting funds to give to those in need affected by the mudslide.  Click on this link and designate your donation to "Outreach" and write "Mudslide relief" in the comments. (Or designate your gift "General" to help offset significant lost revenue the church will have experienced during the fire and mudslide evacuations.)
Please click on this image to go to the safe online giving portal of the church.

There are many people who are not wealthy or resourced who live in Montecito and who were dev astated by the mudslide; many other service workers who have been without income as their work places are closed or destroyed; still others whose insurance is insufficient; and others who will need to access mental health care who cannot afford it. There are so many needs.

In times like this it is good to be the church, to be present with people in their pain, to bring relief to suffering, to be light in the darkness. You can be that too, even from far away. Give here and help All Saints deliver help and hope to those in need affected by the mudslide.
