Association of Lutheran Church Musicians
February 1, 2018 e-newsletter

Greetings in the middle of winter in the Northern Hemisphere!

When your ALCM Board of Directors met in snowy Chicago in mid-January, we did what many of you probably did at the turn of the year. We talked about the wonderful things that happened in ALCM during 2017, and looked forward to things yet to be in 2018 (and beyond).

Our list included our biennial conference in Minnesota; the first eight months of hard and productive work by our executive director, Jim Rindelaub; and the launch of our new series of webinars. To cap off this wonderful year, just before our meeting we learned that the number of people who made a gift to ALCM in 2017 was 306! We surpassed our goal to increase the number of donors to ALCM to 300 in a year, which was a crucial part of our Celebrating 30 Years fund raising campaign. This augurs well for our future.

What do we look forward to in 2018? The list includes 40+ local events held throughout the country; more webinars; and continued support from members and friends. We hope the number 306 becomes not our ceiling, but our floor.

God bless you and your people as we prepare for Ash Wednesday and Lent. And come to one of this year's local events!

The first several  Hearts-Hands-Voices one-day local events are right around the corner. Forty-five sites have been confirmed so far and details have been added to the ALCM website. Registration for the event in Silver Spring, MD, featuring Michael Hawn as the guest presenter, is already open. Registration for other events opens in the next few days.

For those of you looking for more than just a day-long workshop, plan to join us on the campus of Valparaiso University from July 23-26, 2018 for four days of skill-strengthening in a variety of areas. This event coincides with the last week of Lutheran Summer Music, also being held on the Valpo campus, which will provide additional opportunities for learning, growth, and interaction with the LSM students and faculty.

Watch your email over the next few days
for more information
and the opening of registration!
