Thoughts From Interim Pastor Linda Hanus

What a rummage sale! You have heard how much I love treasure hunting. Thank you to all who volunteered their time and backs to setting up, lifting, selling, carrying, loading, packing and cleaning up. Well done. You were awesome! Thank you to all who donated and/or purchased these treasures to support SOH's outreach ministry, fellowship and other ministries to the tune of $4000. Thank you to those who baked, bought or ate slices of delicious pie. Your $200 will help ELCA's Disaster Relief to assist our sisters and brothers here in the United States and around the world, who have experienced the heartbreaking and sometimes deadly destruction of natural disasters.  God bless you all for making Christ known.

Congratulations to SOH's 2018-2019 Congregation Council members:

Jim Gowan - President
Tina Gilson - Vice President
Don Knickerbocker - Treasurer  (Appointed by Council)
Steve Osterman - Secretary
Vic Hannig - Financial Secretary (Temporary - We thank Vic for staying on for the time being)
Amanda Klick
Kit McCormick
Gabby Scott
Dick Schultz

Thank you to Jim and Karen Gowan and Joseph Burnsworth, who will be serving with me as SOH's voting members at the 2018 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly in June. We will be electing our new bishop.

By now, many of you have heard that today is our Office Manager, Ginger Witherwax's, last day with us at Spirit of Hope. While we are saddened by her departure, we send her off with our deepest gratitude for all that she accomplished during her brief time in our midst. She worked above and beyond her job description to help put our office and financial house in order. Please join me in thanking her and wishing her well, as she begins a new and exciting chapter of her life. Godspeed, Ginger.

With Ginger's departure, we ask for your patience and assistance, as we work together to keep the office running smoothly until the office position is filled. Thank you, in advance, for making this transition as easy as possible. Please say "yes", when asked to help in the office.

With hope and joy in God's presence and promises,
Pastor Linda

In Memory Of Robert (Bob) Hanson
March 27, 1922 - January 24, 2018
A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.

It's filled with moments, sweet and sad with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared, and laughter through the years.

A life well lived is a legacy, of joy and pride and pleasure, a living, lasting memory
our grateful heart's will treasure.

Welcome To The World...
Milo Israel Garza!

Nick & Nikki Garza (our 5:00 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. Contemporary Music Leaders), welcomed Milo Israel Garza to their family on January 11, 2018.

Milo weighed 9lbs. 5oz. and was 20" long. Milo joins big sister Enedina, and big brothers Jude and Oscar.

Isn't he adorable!!!

Empty Egg Cartons Needed

The Education Team is in need of empty egg cartons that hold 12 eggs for an upcoming Nite Lite craft project. If you can help, please bring your empty egg cartons and leave them on the back desk in the Narthex by February 19th. Thank you!!
Audit Committee Team Members Needed!

A large part of the life of the church is making sure our I's are dotted and T's crossed. That takes place in the form of a yearly audit. If you have an eye for organization and a mind for financial review, we need you! We are currently in need of 2 members to join the Audit committee for 2018. You must be full time residents to perform this task. If you are interested, please let Vice President Tina Gilson know.
** Thank You To The Rummage Sale Folks **

A BIG thank you to all those who helped last week to get ready for and work during the rummage sale. We had a wonderful week of set up with lots of great teamwork (and laughs galore!) Thank you to everyone who donated their gently used items! It was a WONDERFUL week and weekend! Tina Gilson, Outreach Team Chair

** Thank You For The Pie Donations **

Thanks to all who donated the beautiful, delicious pies for the ELCA Disaster Fundraiser. Your kindness from your pie donations will send $200 towards helping the survivors of the many natural disasters that occurred during 2017.  Yours in Christ,
Diana Duck
Thoughts...
The butterfly floating by, a gentle breeze, that sudden ray of sunshine, a strangers smile...all little signs that your guardian angels are near.  On that note, we have lost a few of our members within the last couple of months. They will be missed not only by their families, but also by their Spirit of Hope family. Rest in peace Ron Kinning, Gayle Troiano and Bob Hanson.

Congrats to our new Church Council President Jim Gowan, Vice President Tina Gilson, and Secretary Steve Osterman. Keep them and all of our council members in your prayers.

On a sad note, our Office Manager Ginger will be bidding us goodbye today, after more than a year and half at Spirit of Hope. She will be missed by so many people, as she was our life saver in the office and worked so hard on getting this business into the 21st century with our new website, online member directory, new office systems, and so many other items too numerous to count. She has saved us a great deal of money by just finding ways to save here, there and everywhere. I will miss seeing her smile on Thursday mornings and the laughs we shared. She was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure the committees had what they needed, that all the worship services ran smoothly and well, I can't even begin to tell you all that she has done for Spirit of Hope.  So thank you Ginger, and please know that you will be very hard to replace. It has been a pleasure to work with you on whatever projects we needed to get done.
