Superintendent's Message

"If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow."
- John Dewey

Dear Parents, Staff and Community Members,

We are in the midst of an exciting time in D36. At a Special School Board Meeting on Monday, March 12, the Future Ready D36 Core Team unveiled the first iteration of three potential Educational Master Facility Plan concepts. The team shared rationale for each of these concepts, and is committed to listening to feedback and refining the concepts over the course of the spring. The School Board is expected to adopt an educational master facility plan in June 2018.

Throughout the Future Ready D36 process, we have asked our community for input in shaping our long-term plan. We are asking you to complete a brief survey on the concepts currently under consideration. If you were unable to attend the Special School Board Meeting, you may watch the video . Here is an overview of the continuum of concepts. Additionally, the March 12 presentation is available on the website . Once you review materials and the presentation, please click here here to complete a brief survey to share your feedback on the concepts currently under review.

Please also join us at these upcoming Community Engagement Sessions to learn more and interact with the Future Ready D36 Core Team.

Friday, March 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The Skokie School
Thursday, March 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Greeley School

As a District, we face a complex set of challenges, but I am confident that together we will determine a solution that best meets both the current and long-term needs of our school community. As we progress through these next few months, let's continue to model civil discourse and thoughtful problem-solving for our students. Thank you for being a community that cares deeply about cultivating excellence, thinking outside of the box, and advocating for what is best for children.

Sinc erely,

Dr. Trisha Kocanda
Superintendent

Joshua Swanner, Principal of Greeley School, shared this great resource for finding a good "boredom buster."  You are able to filter "busters" by age and number of players. Great for planning a family evening, solo play, or hosting a group of friends over Spring Break.
