A Message to Chamber Orchestra Musicians and Families from

Dear Chamber Orchestra Musicians and Families,

I am writing to let you know that our Chamber Orchestra rehearsal shown on the season calendar for this evening - Thursday, March 15 has been cancelled. Our next Chamber Orchestra rehearsal will be on Saturday, March 17 at our regularly scheduled time. Please prepare the 4th movement of Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4 and movements 2 and 4 of the Shostakovich Violin Concerto for our next upcoming rehearsal together on Saturday, March 17th.

Thank you all again for your ongoing outstanding achievements and for your outstanding dedication in the Chamber Orchestra.

Earth Day. We encourage all of our Sunday ensembles to attend the Open House Festival on Saturday, April 21! 
 

Seeking Guest Performers for Friday mornings in Balboa Park

Would you like to be a guest performer for young children? SDYS is seeking
3 Conservatory musicians to be featured on a Friday morning Baby and Me Music Class in Balboa Park. Be a guest performer for 0-4 year olds and their caregivers, playing a piece of music of your choice as well as a classic kid favorite: Itsy Bitsy Spider? Wheels on the Bus?

Guest performers needed on
March 16, and 23 from 10:45am-12:15pm.  This opportunity is particularly great during Spring Break or for students who are home-schooled, and can be counted for community service hours.

T-shirt and hoodies orders will be placed monthly. Please check sizes and measurements very carefully before ordering as t-shirts and hoodies
cannot be returned or exchanged.

April 10. Orders can be picked up at SDYS office during normal business hours, or at student rehearsals

Donate an Instrument

We are accepting wind and string
instruments that will all be going
to conservatory and community
students that need them. You can
drop them off Monday - Friday
during regular business hours, or
on the weekends during rehearsals.

We have an immediate
need for flutes, violas and trombones!

Ladies Rock San Diego

Ladies Rock San Diego (LRSD) is an intensive weekend program where you form a band, learn an instrument, write an original song and rock live at a local venue...in just 3 days!  You will also have the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops with topics related to being an empowered rocker!

Welcome to NYO-U! Written and produced by members of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and NYO2, this free online video series is perfect to share with students who are looking for ways to take their playing to the next level.

Mastering fast passages
Conquering stage fright

Sphinx Performance Academy 2018 Summer Program

The Sphinx Performance Academy (SPA) is thrilled to partner with the Curtis Institute of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music for its 2018 summer programming. SPA is a full-scholarship, intensive chamber music and solo performance program designed for aspiring
Black and Latino string players, ages 11-17.
