Mar 24 Children's Procession of Palms

Children of all ages, including babes in arms, are invited to participate in New Song's Palm Procession commemorating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. The procession will take place near the beginning of worship on Saturday, March 24. Children should gather with Miss Pam at 5:20 in the foyer to receive Palm branches and instructions. The Children's Message will immediately follow the procession. After the CM, children under second grade may go to Child Care while older children can join families in worship. Thanks for helping on this special day.

Annual New Song Easter Egg Hunt March 24
The annual New Song Easter Egg Hunt is always a great time for children! Please gather in the basement foyer to begin the outside hunt together. We won't let any spring rains spoil our hunt - we'll hold the hunt inside the basement in case of inclement weather. Please bring a basket or bag for the egg collection!

EASTER WORSHIP APRIL 1 9:00 a.m.

Come join with Christians worldwide as we celebrate Easter! New Song's only Sunday morning worship of the year will begin at 9:00. It is a special time to worship as a family and to invite friends as we honor and praise the resurrected Christ.

Since Holy Cross children will be in the child care room, we will have child care in a downstairs classroom on Easter. Paid workers will be there at 8:45 to greet children.

We talked about Jesus's entry into Jerusalem and the Last Supper at the March SuperSaturday. I encourage you to also share the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem with your children prior to March 24th. That story is found in Matthew 21:1-11.

Young children might like to have a parade at home. Older children may enjoy showing their Bible skills by finding the chapter and verse and reading with you. (We've been working on that skill in SuperSaturday.)

Entry processions were important occasions in ancient days, often displaying political power by emperors and warriors. Jesus rode a donkey indicating that his goal was to show humble service.

The word Hosanna literally means "save us".The people called out to Jesus: "Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest heaven!"

I ask God to bless all our children and families in this holy season.

CHILDREN, CHURCH, AND CHILD CARE

Our continuing thanks to those who volunteer to care for children in child care. Not only do children get to know and feel loved by adults in the congregation, adults also get to know the wonderful babies and young children in our midst. A win-win for everyone!

We are blessed to have an ever-expanding group of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Because of the needs of our youngest Songbirds and the limited space of the child care room, it is important that children over first grade remain in worship with their families. Should parents or grandparents work  in child care, please arrange for your older child to sit with friends in worship. (Teachers are always happy for children to sit with us.)

We are also blessed to have older children in our midst! To help meet their needs and to learn about worship, we offer Activity Bags that are found near the welcome center. We will also have various books and Children's Bibles available on the bookshelf at the entrance to the Chapel for children to use.

Some tips for helping children learn about worship are:

1. Encourage children to participate by singing, praying, sitting and standing as appropriate.

2. Prep children to use the Community Prayer Time as a time to voice their prayers for others.

3. Use a Bible to read along with the liturgist. Ask older children to look up the scripture.

4. Encourage children to participate in the Children's Message.

5. Contact Bob McMillan or Michael Jennings if your child would like to be an acolyte.

6. Point out the various parts of worship and their meaning.

Most of all, know how welcome children of all ages are at New Song! They add life, energy and zest to our days and hope to our futures. Thank you, families, for bringing your precious children to New Song Church. Keep up the good work!
THANK YOU!

.....to the children of SuperSaturday who made beautiful pew cards with encouraging messages and pictures on them.

.....to those who make our SuperSaturday meals so special! Thanks to the Loys, McMillians and Faires for helping with meals this winter.
