Dear St. George Families,

There is an interesting story about a boy who had difficulty coming home on time from school each day. His father lectured him about the importance of being on time, but the talks had no impact. Finally, he told his son that the next time he was late he would only get bread and water for dinner that evening. Sure enough, the next night his son was late again and when they sat down for dinner his son was stunned; on his plate was a single slice of bread. When the reality of the punishment had sunk in and he saw that his father meant business, the father gave the son his own plate and ate the slice of bread and drank the water himself. That was all the father ate that evening.

Years later, the son told others that what his father did at supper that evening taught him one of his most important lessons in life: how much he had hurt his father by not following the rules and the sacrifice his father was willing to make for him. He grew to respect and love his father even more.

Think of the sacrifice Jesus made for us 2,000 years ago. It's the same story. What lesson do we learn from the Last Supper and the sacrifice Jesus made for us? What are we doing for Jesus in return?

God bless you and your family,

Jack Nelson
