St. Louis Catholic School Newsletter
March 9, 2018
A Message from the Principal...
Dear St. Louis Families,

I am sure that your children are looking forward to the long weekend ahead! Early forecasts show the chance of some "white stuff" in the forecast for Monday... a lot can change before then, but I know that news of snow adds excitement to the mix, even in the month of March.  While your children are home on Monday, your school staff will be very busy with professional development in-services at St. Louis and throughout the diocese. Many thanks to Liz Schwieterman for all that she does to provide amazing PTO hospitality for our staff - - she will be a huge help to us on Monday, as she has throughout the year, providing lunch hospitality to our teachers as they work.

We have a couple special assemblies next week - - "The Magic of Reading" with magician Joe Romano will be on Tuesday afternoon, and the Boyle School of Irish Dance Show will be on Wednesday morning (which is also "Pi Day" and comfy clothes day for those who came to the Catholic Schools Week Sunday Mass).  For all those college basketball fans, a little "March Madness" has arrived!  Look for the student council March Madness bracket competition info below.

Many blessings,

Kathleen McNutt
Principal

Diocesan Financial Aid Deadline March 16th
Reminder from the Diocese of Arlington: The deadline for priority application for diocesan financial aid is March 16.  Please go to the FACTS site to apply:    https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3CPYM .

F amilies must submit their 2017 W-2s and federal tax documents before the March 16th deadline in order to be considered for a suggested award. Currently, 85% of total Diocesan applicants are still in submitted status and missing supporting documentation. It takes approximately 2 weeks for FACTS Grant & Aid to review submitted documents and verify applications so families should be uploading their supporting documents as soon as possible.
Student Council March Madness Bracket Challenge
Fill out yur March Madness bracket online this year and compete against other St. Louis Hawks! The Student Council will be awarding a $25 Amazon Gift Card to the winner of the bracket challenge! All brackets must be submitted by March 12th. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Tissues & Paper Towels for the Clinic
Spring is coming! If you would like to donate paper towels or tissues to the clinic, we would be very grateful. We prefer the select-a-size style paper towels in order to reduce waste when wrapping up those ice packs, although any rolls are appreciated. The small box tissues are easier to store in our space, but again, we appreciate any and all donations!
New Family Coffee - March 21st
Families new to St. Louis School this year are invited to attend our final New Family Coffee of the school year on Wednesday, March 21st at 8:15am in the school cafeteria. Younger siblings are welcome.

ALL school families are welcome to attend this coffee. Mrs. McNutt will be joining us to speak about safety and security at
St. Louis School.

CYO & Extracurricular Activities
What happened on March 12, 1912?
ANSWER: 18 girls gathered for the first Girl Scout meeting in the United States, of course!

Please join us in celebrating all the Girls who have helped "Make the World a Better Place" during the week of March 12th, Girl Scout Week! Thank you to Mrs. McNutt and the school staff for their support to highlight this event in two ways this year:
  • First, current or former Girl Scouts, please look for and sign our banner! It will be up all week in the school.
  • Second, current Girl Scouts, you are invited to wear your scout uniform, sash/vest/tunic or tab with pins to Mass on Friday, March 16th. What a great way to finish off the week!
Happy Girl Scout Week!
