Eighth graders will offer two additional presentations on

From the Office of Child Protection:
Important Notification:
Our Child Protection site supervisor, Ms. Beverly Peterson, will be out of the office for an extended period of time for a series of medical treatments. We have a certified volunteer who met with the Diocese and will be available for a few hours each week. Processing time of child protection applications will be affected. As such, if you are planning to volunteer, please pick up your packet at least a month before your volunteer event will occur. Packets may be picked up in the Office of Christian Formation from 8:30-2:30 Monday-Thursday. Please pray for a quick recovery for Ms. Peterson. We thank you in advance for your patience.
Parents,
I
n order to volunteer at MBS School, the school child protection process must be completed. This includes four parts-a completed volunteer application, certificate of completion of online training, signatory page from the Code of Ethics, and a fingerprint background check.
Please note that if you have been deemed compliant with the Parish for scouts, sports (grades K-4), etc. you are
NOT
compliant with the school child protection process until you have completed the fingerprint background check. The fingerprint background check is an extra step required to volunteer in a school. The paperwork for the fingerprint background check is available through my office.
If you have any questions concerning your compliance, please contact Beverly Peterson at
bpeterson@mbsbr.org
or at
225-753-5526
. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Parents, please do not go to the state police to be fingerprinted without the necessary paperwork to have the proper background check run.
Beverly Peterson

Time and Talent Information for 2018-19 School Year
As stated in the MBS Handbook, "
Our family commits to thirty hours of time and talent to be given to the school and/or church each year. (A year is from registration to re-registration.) Time and Talent hours are required and reviewed prior to re-registration each year. Hours must be completed in order to receive the in-parish tuition rate."
The 2018-19 pink Time & Talent card and guidelines will be going home on Tuesday, March 20. In some cases, parents prefer school correspondence be sent home with the oldest child, others prefer the youngest child. Because of the variations in preferences, we will send one card home with each child. The parents can decide which one to use to log their family's hours for the 2018-19 school year.

Habitat for Humanity
April 28
th
will be the MBS portion of the
Habitat for Humanity build
. This year MBS is covering the 2
nd
weekend, which is still in the framing stage, following wall erection and sheathing from the first weekend crew (St. Patrick and Alphonsus). To date, Barry has only
7
signed up from our entire parish. Certainly, we’re all getting older and slower which is all the more reason to have more help on-hand.
The location this year is
2018 North Acadian West
, which is very close to BR General hospital. The families Habitat chooses to work with are highly motivated, dedicated, and very deserving of a helping hand.
If you can spend some time Saturday, April 28
th
please contact Barry at the phone number below for further directions. This does not have to be an entire day commitment you your part.

Vacation Bible School
Important Announcement!
Because we did not have Vacation Bible School last year, we would like to offer it this year. However, the Diocese requires a specific number of adults to supervise the children in each program. As of now, we do not have enough ADULT volunteers to open VBS. We are urging volunteers to please come forward now. All adults must meet the Diocesan Child Protection requirements.
Mrs. Gioe has offered double time and talent hours for those who volunteer for VBS. If we have enough volunteers, our scheduled dates are June 25-29 from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
If you are interested in working with our young children this summer, please email Judy Carr at mbspsr@gmail.com.

All Hands Spring Clean Up
Grounds Crew Team Rotations will start the weekend of March 17
th
. Teams meet once a month for 1-2 hours through the end of October. We need volunteers to mow, edge, pick up trash, blow leaves, and weed planters. If you are interested in joining a team, please email Travis Fox
tfox@fox-nesbit.com
.
Also, we are in need of one team leader right now. The responsibilities for the team leader primarily include:
• Organizing the day and time for getting your team together to cut grass and clean up grounds
• Getting drinks together for the team. The church will refund all expenses incurred.
• Letting Travis Fox know if any equipment is not working or any other problems occur.
