Winter News Letter 2018

Groundhog day is fast approaching, which means we'll soon find out if this winter's harsh weather is here to stay! As much as I enjoy the great outdoors, I can't help but reflect on the wonderful moments that accompany the frost and chill. One of my favorite memories of this winter was the opportunity to celebrate my team. You'll often hear me confess that I've got the best job in the world, but I wouldn't be here without the tireless efforts of each member of the Geppetto Family.

I'd like to give special commendation to a particularly outstanding member of our team, Benjamin Martinez. "Benji BBQ" as he's known in our offices is our employee of the year for 2017.  For the last 10 years,  he's been professional, consistent and an example of unconditional kindness. If there is ever a task that is daunting or undesirable --- Benji volunteers without hesitation. Please help me in congratulating him on this much deserved title. I am very thankful to work beside him!

February is the quickest month of the year, but fortunately, it doesn't pass without occasions to gather with friends and loved ones. This year, we've curated two special menus that highlight the best February has to offer. First up, the Big Game! Finger foods are king during Super Bowl parties. They're quick, easy to eat and won't distract from this year's best commercials. Try these sausage cheddar balls from Martha Stewart, or take a look at our blog  for more tips on planning a great game day party. If you aren't an experienced home chef, we've created a menu that will support the host with the most, or
a la carte options for those attending a pot-luck.

Another exciting menu we've created for February is a special just for Valentine's day.  Restaurants are often crowded, and preparing dinner for that special someone can be exhausting --- especially since the holiday falls mid-week this year. We've built a romantic three-course meal complete with a complimentary bouquet of flowers and sparkling wine. You can find these special packages on our website, or give us a call at the office for personalized menu planning!

As always, I thank you for your continued support, and wish you all the best for 2018!

New Years Resolutions: Eating Seasonally
rustic_wood_kale.jpg
Winter can seem like a hard time to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, making it even more difficult to stick with the promises we made on January 31st. Despite this idea, there is plenty of seasonal produce at it's peak that will help you to stay on track. Citrus, "super food" kale, and leeks are just three delicious ingredients that are "winter-proof" and readily available this time of year. Brussels Sprouts and Broccoli are also great green vegetables that are still fresh during cold winter months.  Here's a delicious, healthy recipe from Epicurious to enjoy!

Yeilds 45

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups grated cheddar (1/2 pound)
1 pound bulk breakfast sausage
1/2 large yellow onion, grated on large holes of a box grater
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Method:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and baking powder. Add cheddar and toss to coat. Add sausage, onion, and butter. With your hands, mix until well combined and roll mixture into 1-inch balls. Place balls, 1/2 inch apart, on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake until balls are golden and cooked through, 25 minutes. Serve warm.
