Serve God, love kids
Serve kids, love God

The council members would like to introduce themselves to you.

Diocesan Confirmation/Reception/Reaffirmation May 19 in Petoskey
Those interested in confirmation or reaffirmation of baptismal vows, and those interested in reception into the Episcopal Church from another faith tradition, are encouraged to contact Kathryn+ in order to prepare for the diocesan-wide service on May 19 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Petoskey.

Considering Baptism?
Are you considering baptism for you or your child? The Easter Vigil (March 31 this year) is one of the 'especially appropriate' Sundays for baptism (referred to as baptismal feasts). The others are: the Day of Pentecost, All Saints' Day or the Sunday after All Saints' Day, and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the First Sunday after the Epiphany). The BCP recommends that, as far as possible, baptism should be reserved for these feasts. Please contact The Rev. Kathryn Costas if you are interested.

Easter Flowers for the church
Traditionally, parishioners have given special donations for our Easter flowers in honor or in memory of loved ones. Envelopes are available in the Commons for your donations. Please write 'Easter Flowers' on the memo line of your check, and please include the wording for your dedication, which will appear in our Easter bulletin. Drop your envelope into the offering plate or bring to the office. Thank you!

Hepatitis A vaccine clinic at Jubilee House
March 23 10a-12n
This clinic is sponsored by the Grand Traverse County Health Department, and is OPEN TO ALL. Hepatitis A cases have been reported and confirmed in Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties and have been linked to the larger southeast Michigan outbreak. Since August 2016 there have been 677 cases of Hepatitis A identified across the state, 82% have been severe enough to lead to hospitalization. The Michigan Dept. of Health & Human Services has set up an Emergency Coordination Center to monitor the cases and spread awareness about Hepatitis A in our community. The Hepatitis A virus is vaccine preventable. The Grand Traverse County Health Dept. is recommending that everyone be vaccinated against Hepatitis A. Information is posted on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall. Please call the church office to sign up.

Episcopal Peace Fellowship letter-writing
on March 24
in support of gun law reforms
The Episcopal Peace Fellowship of Grace is very proud to share some of our recent projects and accomplishments with the Grace family. The EPF chapter at Grace is the only chapter in the Diocese of Western Michigan, and is an organization dedicated to focusing on contemplation and action regarding issues of justice and peace.   Recently, Betsy Davidson, who has been a committed member of EPF since 2007, has become a member of the National Executive Council of EPF for a two year term.   This is an honor for our local chapter and a way for EPF to better understand how to develop peace and justice initiatives on a local and national level. We are grateful for and proud of Betsy's efforts.   In addition, the EPF will be holding a gun-reform writing campaign on the weekend of the Bishop's Workshop at Grace, on March 24.   We encourage everyone to join in this effort to encourage legislators to enact gun reform. We would also like to invite you to attend any EPF meeting. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00pm at Jubilee House. We would appreciate your interest and input. If you have any question regarding EPF issues, please contact Betsy Davidson at [email protected] or at 231-313-6013.

Overnight vigil in the Columbarium
at the Altar of Repose
March 29 - 30

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "So, could you not stay awake with me one hour?"
Matthew 26:40

We will have an overnight Vigil following the Maundy Thursday service and the stripping of the altar. This is a sacred tradition observed in many parishes following the Maundy Thursday service. We respond in obedience to Jesus' question to Peter (and to us), "could you not watch with me one hour?"

We ask that members of the parish volunteer to keep vigil at the altar of repose and pray for one hour periods. The Vigil will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Maundy Thursday in the Columbarium. The Vigil will continue until the Good Friday liturgy at noon. This is a holy and prayerful time to humbly 'meet at Jesus's feet', with the eternal oil lamp burning to signify that the consecrated bread and wine are present. We encourage you to sign up for one hour - a sign-up sheet is in the Commons. You may wish to enlist a friend to sit with you as a team. If you have any questions, please contact Dixie Stephen (922-5909)

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
