CARTA fellow speaks at US conference on Bioenergetics and Metabolic Disease
Joel Karani Magutah
(Cohort 4) made a poster presentation at the Bioenergetics and Metabolic Disease conference in the USA. The poster, from his PhD research, was titled "Effect of short moderate intensity exercises in modifying cardio-metabolic markers in sedentary Kenyans aged at least 50 years."
The symposia began on
21 to 25 January, 2018
at the Keystone Resort in Colorado, USA.
"It was a great privilege and opportunity to not only learn what is happening elsewhere in the wider area of my interest but to also initiate networking and collaboration, and to have very helpful criticism and advice," said the fellow from the University of Nairobi.
His presentation discussed among other issues, that exercise sessions lasting <10 minutes are as good as those lasting ≥30 minutes in improving cardio-metabolic profiles of sedentary adults aged ≥50 years.
