FRAGILE...PRECARIOUS...PRECIOUS

Dear Friends,

Once again, nature has spoken and the results are seen on every street in town. The Arboretum suffered damage to and loss of some very beautiful trees, with little damage to our structural property. But while the loss here is deeply felt, there's been profound devastation suffered by many of our tri-state neighbors. And as we all join in clean-up efforts, remember that in good times as in bad, nature rules. She is the great equalizer and we are her subjects.

RRA is about to receive the Good Neighbor Award from the Suburban Chamber of Commerce. We're truly pleased and honored by this. But the reality here is that Summit is filled with wonderful neighbors. We've especially seen and experienced such kindness and cooperation, through the inconveniences over these past few days, from the City of Summit (clean-up and plowing), from the Beacon Hill Club (for additional parking), and from St. John's Lutheran Church (who basically saved our trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show). As Shakespeare wrote, "One touch of nature and the whole world is kin."

New days and new growth will soon fill the joys of the coming months and we will once again share with you all the exquisite beauty of our magnificent grounds. Till then, patience is the pace of nature.

See you in the garden.....soon!
