Free Legal Clinic - Name and Gender-Market Changes
The Center in Hillcrest
First Tuesday of Each Month, starting February 6

Meet with attorneys and law students who can provide assistance and guidance filling out forms required to apply for a court order necessary to change your name and/or gender marker on birth certificates and other official documents. This is sponsored by Pride Law at University of San Diego School of Law, Tom Homann LGBT Law Association and San Diego LGBT Community Center. 

The clinic will take place in the evening of the first Tuesday of each month, starting February 6th. Schedule appointments at 6:30PM, 7:30PM and 8:30PM at [email protected] or 732-567-8394. Walk-ins will be assisted based on availability. 

Victory Congressional Internship Program

The Victory Institute will bring outstanding LGBTQ college students to Washington, D.C., for an 8-week intensive leadership program, including a Congressional internship with an LGBTQ-friendly member of Congress.
 
The Victory Congressional Internship is open to current undergraduate students of all genders, orientations, abilities, races, and political affiliations, including people with majors other than political science.  The program will run from May 29th-July 21st, 2018.

Applications for this incredible paid summer internship opportunity is due by Saturday, February 17th.
Apply today  and you could be working on Capitol Hill in just a couple months.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is soliciting applications from interested interns and fellows desiring to learn about and lead in the movement to improve the lives of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and same gender loving (SGL) people. A position for a postdoctoral research fellow is immediately available!

Dr. Mark (Marki) Cayabyab is a transgender research scientist working on an HIV/AIDS vaccine and has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in their laboratory at the Forsyth Institue. 

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. or Ph.D combined with a professional degree (M.D., DDS, and D.V.M) in Immunology, Virology or a related field. The ideal candidate will have 0-2 years postdoctoral experience, a strong publication record and expertise in immunological assay techniques including flow cytometry,
ELISA, and animal experimentation. Candidates must be intellectually curious and have good written/oral communication skills in English. The accepted fellow will have dual appointments at Forsyth and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

Point Foundation Scholarship
 
The Point Community College Program inspires LGBTQ community college students to fulfill their ambitions of attending a four-year college or university.
Students accepted into the program will receive up to a $3,700 tuition scholarship, admissions counseling, coaching and financial education at the Point Community College Transfer Symposium in Los Angeles, and access to the Point Foundation network of LGBTQ scholars, more than 300 alumni, and many others dedicated to seeing LGBTQ students succeed. La Familia de UCRChicano Student Programs, and the  LGBT Resource Center of UC Riverside invite you to join Un Espacio For Our QT Community at the 2nd ¡Presente! Conference on February 9-10, 2018.

The ¡Presente! Conference is a queer college conference for Latinx/Chicanx/Indigenous/PoC, with a focus on people who self-identify with the Latin/South/Central American diaspora or Brown or Indigenous. People of all genders and sexualities are welcome to apply to attend Saturday's events. Friday's opening is free and open to all.
Anyone who applies by December 1 will be given priority seating! Attendance will be capped at 150 people.

The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting.  This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out.  Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The group is open to new members the first 4 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

The Embodied and Interconnected Sovereignties of Indigenous Human and Nonhuman Persons

Come out to a talk featuring Dr. Tria Blu Wakpa, who will talk about how settler colonial discourses have sought to invisiblize Native peoples and nations through physical and cultural genocide and misrepresentation. Unearthing the relationship of Indigenous cultural productions to Native sovereignties therefore becomes an important political project. This talk critically examines the vital and, at times, uneasy linkages between Indigenous human and nonhuman persons' sovereignties through the lens of North American hand talk (sign language), dances, martial arts, and their convergences.
