IN MEMORY OF
THOMAS S MONSON

The Boy Scouts of America was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Thomas S. Monson, the 16th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President Monson was a selfless volunteer with a life-long commitment to the values of Scouting. As the longest-serving member of the BSA's National Executive Board, Thomas Monson was a national cornerstone of the Scouting program.

SCOUTING FOR GIRLS UPDATE

By Steven Davis Council VP for Membership

It's official. Congratulations to Pack 121, in Tillikum District, for forming and registering our first girl Den! On January 16, 2018, Grace was welcomed to the Pack, ushering in a new era of Scouting in the Mount Baker Council.

2018 WINTER CAMPING SEMINAR

Are you're a Scout or the parent of a Scout that enjoys outdoor winter activities like skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing?  What would you do if you had an equipment failure in the backcountry and a day hike suddenly turned into an over-night winter epic.  Can you identify dangerous avalanche conditions?  Would you worry if your Scout was planning a trip into snow country.  The Winter Camping Seminar is approaching and you can address all those concerns.

TEXT-TO-GIVE PROGRAM

By Robert Moore Council Marketing Committee

Harold Edwards heard about Mount Baker Council's new Text-to-Give option at the Island District Committee Meeting in December.  After hearing about this option, he got out his smartphone and set up the donation by filling out just one form. No pledge card was needed.  Harold usually gives either annually or quarterly by mail, but this way was "not difficult at all". This system allowed him to give monthly a little more than he usually does and he does not have to worry about it.  The donation is automatically charged to his credit/debit card every month.  In addition, Harold chose to pay the credit card processing fee so the Council gets the entire donation he selected.

2018 ANNUAL COMMISSIONER CONFERENCE

Saturday, February 10, 2018
8am to 2pm

Dear Mount Baker Commissioners:

Thank you for your tremendous service in 2017. Your dedicated and selfless service to Scouting has enabled us to reach "Gold Status" for unit contacts - a tremendous achievement that makes us one of the best performing commissioner staffs in the Region, if not nationally. You should be proud of this accomplishment and for being part of an elite group that makes a difference in the lives of young people.
