FEATURED EVENT: RoboExpo
Glencoe High School hosted its annual RoboExpo event on Thursday, Mar. 1. Robotics teams from various schools were in attendance, as were community partners such as the Washington County Sheriff's department, which was demonstrating its remotely-operated robot. The featured event, however, was the unveiling of Team Shockwave's 2018 competition robot. Team captains Nick Ogden, Nathan Fritsch, and Anna Meneely explained the tasks the robot will be undertaking - picking up golden cubes, lifting them up high onto scoring platforms, and inserting the cubes into scoring portals on the ground - and how the robot is designed for these tasks. The first competition took place this past weekend at Wilsonville High School and the next will be Mar. 24-25 at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish, WA. The team hopes their performances at these competitions will qualify them for regionals in Houston, TX.

As a result of the recent tragedy in Florida, the discussion around school safety has elevated. Last week, we shared information with you about how we approach school safety in our District. This week, we want to share information about how we have prepared our staff and students for the potential of student-led walkouts, vigils, and/or protests that are aligned with similar events taking place nationally. Information has been mailed to every household, but it is also available on our
Keeping Students Safe webpage.
