As GLD Pastors' Wives, our unique connecting factor is being married to a pastor. Let's look at the fruit of our Proverbs 31 mentor's marriage.
FRUIT--Trustworthy Love
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.
Her fruitfulness as a wife is rooted in their trustworthy love as husband and wife. Trustworthiness provides the soil for our relationship to grow while strengthening our understanding of each other's desires, use of time, family, money, etc. Our husband's heart will have 'no lack of gain' when our personal goal is to have "a pure heart, a good conscience and a sincere faith" before our God (I Timothy 1:5).
Mrs. PW31's journey takes her on extensive business enterprises, as well as domestic duties. In the settled confidence of trustworthy love, her actions and attitudes toward her husband flourish.
Trustworthy Love's Action
12a She does him good, and not harm
With her heart committed to their marriage, our "wisest of women builds her house, while the foolish woman with her own hands tears it down" (Proverbs 14:1). A pastor's wife is given specific guidance on how to bring good, not harm to her husband and church. "Their wives, likewise, must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things" (I Timothy 3:11). Are we choosing to do good and seek harmony, not harm? Let's pray for each other to hear God's good counsel.
Trustworthy Love's Attitude
12b all the days of her life.
Her love and emotions are rooted in their marital covenant. Of course, there are days when she doesn't like her husband's attitudes or her reactions. Whether days full of sickness, health, riches or lack, she seeks trustworthy solutions for their marriage. Critical conversations, problems faced and daily prayer are essential for this "all the days of her life" journey. Within these two verses, a deep-rooted marriage is lived.
