Dr. Aaron Blocher-Rubin Named 2017 Piper Fellow

Last month, Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust announced that AZA United's founder and CEO, Dr. Aaron Blocher-Rubin, has been selected as a member of the 2017 class of Piper Fellows. The Piper Fellows program acknowledges the never-ceasing demands of nonprofit leadership and as such, offers opportunities for Maricopa County nonprofit leaders to reach, retool, and revitalize through a Piper Fellowship. Fellows receive support to explore educational and professional programs and visit model program sites and leaders across the nation. Each recipient's fellowship experience is unique and designed by the fellow. While fellows complete their fellowships in 2018, they remain part of the larger and enduring Piper Fellows community-now totaling 72 fellows.

Dr. Aaron Blocher-Rubin's fellowship will focus on visiting some of the best autism organizations in the world, including the oldest and largest autism charity (the National Autistic Society in London) and a series of organizations serving individuals with autism throughout California and New England. He will also complete an executive education program at Stanford University and attend an innovation conference in New York City. His goal is to discover new models of excellence for helping people with autism of all ages and levels, as AZA United prepares for a major valley-wide expansion project.
