Congratulations - you did it! With your help and the generosity of local ranchers Joe and David Sceirine, we've permanently protected Bridgeport Valley's breathtakingly scenic and habitat-rich Sceirine Point Ranch.
This historic working ranch supports our local economy and provides an important home for wildlife like mule deer, sage-grouse, and waterfowl. Now, thanks to the long-term vision of the Sceirine brothers, the property's verdant meadows and ranching history will be preserved... Forever.
What a way to ring in the New Year - and you helped make it possible.

Carrying a Torch for Rare Desert Fish
Our restoration project at the Benton Ponds just took a big step forward.
On a bright, sunny morning towards the end of 2017, a plume of smoke could be seen rising up from the desert near Benton, CA. Where there's smoke, there's fire - and typically, flames like these spell trouble. But in this case, that smoke was cause for celebration.
With assistance from CDFW, CalFire, and landowner Bill Bramlette, we are now one step closer to reintroducing the rare Owens speckled dace to its historic home.

Conservation is "Taking Root"
Local kids are getting outside and learning about nature - and we're excited to help them grow.
"I asked my group of third graders to go and find a 'special spot' where they could sit still for ten minutes. Then, to make quiet observations for ten more minutes. Knowing how squeamish kids this age can be, I prepared for the worst.
"However, as the minutes passed, I didn't hear so much as a whisper. In fact, when I called my group back, many students didn't want to leave. There was a sense of calm that seemed to have washed over everyone. I couldn't believe it..."
