GSD Funds Study on Abuse and Neglect in Elite Athletics
We are pleased to announce our support of CHILD USA with a grant of $50,000 to fund a study to determine the incidence of child abuse and neglect within elite athletics.

The goal of this study is to understand the extent of abuse, under what circumstances it occurs, and how it happens. With this information CHILD USA and other advocacy groups can create policies and potential legal reforms to protect athletes from abuse in the future.

The survey will be launched at the first national symposium on Athletes and Abuse on April 25th at the University of Pennsylvania .

Candace Cable, GSD Champion Ambassador, Reports from the 2018 Paralympics in PyeongChang
Candace Cable , a nine-time Paralympian and one of GSD's Champion Ambassadors, attended the 2018 Paralympics in PyeongChang. This time she put down her skis and picked up a keyboard as a reporter for the Wheelchair Sports Federation .

We first encountered Candace when she was nominated for our Athletes in Excellence Award in 2014 . Impressed with both her record as an athlete and her incredible contributions to sport and society as an advocate for people with disabilities, we asked her to join our team of Champion Ambassadors. Candace has joined us for our Playmakers Programs and several other events.

We enjoyed reading Candace's posts about the Games, and we were especially happy to see she took our mascot Globie with her (pictured above).
