Dear Friends,
 The Maryland General Assembly session is in full swing. I understand more than 3,000 pieces of legislation have been introduced to date. The Prince George's County Council reviews and takes positions on selected pieces of legislation and we share those positions with the Prince George's County delegation. It's been an honor to personally testify on two pieces of legislation as well.
Council Member Taveras joined me in Annapolis to testify in support of SB624,
State Income and Property Tax Credits - Purple Line Construction Zone, which would ensure support for businesses adversely affected by the impact of Purple Line construction by providing tax credit relief to qualified businesses in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties.
On March 8, I joined with numerous advocates to testify in support of a statewide $15 minimum wage. In January the full Council passed CR-05-2018 to support a statewide $15 minimum wage, which would begin to reverse decades of growing pay inequality between the lowest-paid workers and the middle class. In Annapolis I also spoke in strong support of the legislation's provision to support our Developmentally Disabled Adult (DDA) care providers.

 Please join me for my annual District 3 Town Hall and Resource Fair on Wednesday, April 11, 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at William Wirt Middle School.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. you can talk with representatives from County and State agencies and utilities. The speaking program will begin at 7:00 p.m.
 The Council was briefed recently on the SAFE Cities Network program, an aspect of the Immigrant Services and Language Access (ISLA) initiative established by the County Council to support our immigrant community. The County was awarded a Vera Institute of Justice grant last year, which was matched with County funds to provide services to Prince George's County residents detained and facing deportation.
