Thoughts From Pastor Glen

Our 2017 Vacation Bible School ended with blaring music, a darkened room, smoke (from smoke machines), a laser light show and nearly 200+ people (kids, helpers, leaders) dancing, jumping, circling and singing to the top of their lungs our VBS theme song as the parents watched. The energy in the room was contagious as the soggy little souls (it was a wet game night) soaked in the message that God loves them. I couldn't be more proud of every person who graciously gave up their time to allow this event to be everything it could be. We created memories last week, hopefully memories that will eventually usher these young people into the spiritual fold, if not at Spirit of Hope, at some other Christian congregation. It was a great event with great people giving great effort for a great God. Thank you!

Do you remember when??? It was the morning of September 30, 2007 when the first worship service was conducted in our present building. How time flies. We are in the process of putting together a 10th Anniversary Celebration remembering how God has blessed us over these years as a congregation. Many people have come and gone. Many challenges were confronted and tackled. Many changes were experienced which opened the door to God's spirit making Spirit of Hope a unique worshipping community. We are starting to put some ideas together to figure out how to celebrate this historic event. One of our newest members, Sue Irwin, has agreed to chair the 10th Anniversary Celebration. We are looking for volunteers to serve as a short-term task force to make this event fun and memorable. If you would like to be part of this task force, please contact Sue or Pastor Glen through the church office at 480-396-8300.

I'm sitting in the surgical waiting area at Chandler Regional Hospital as I type this. Lee (my spouse) suffered a broken ankle several weeks ago while walking to the Gammage Theater. We jumped from a two foot ledge, she stumbled and fell. We stayed to take-in the musical, but later discovered that her injury was worse than we first suspected. Today she is expecting a surgeon to insert 3 screws into her ankle to assist the healing process. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Peace & love,
Pastor Glen
