Did you know?
T he Catholic Church will be celebrating a new memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  On March 3, 2018,  Pope Francis declared  that going forward, the Monday after Pentecost Sunday will be celebrated as the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church.  A celebration of a memorial generally means that prayers and readings specific to the day's memorial are used in the Mass.  The Marian title of "Mother of the Church," was given to the Blessed Mother by Bl. Pope Paul VI at the Second Vatican Council.  In 2018, the memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, will be celebrated on May 21.

March 12, 2018
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
In response to the school shootings in Florida, Wednesday, March 14 th  is "National Walk Out Day". Many of the schools in our area will be participating in this event in various ways. With the age levels of the students in our school, we felt that a "walk out" would not be in our best interests. Instead, we will be having a 17 minute pray-in following Mass at 7:45am.

Each class will offer a petition of prayer for the poor, sick, marginalized, bullied, etc. These prayers will come from the hearts of your children. Please be assured we are making every effort to stay away from the violence aspect of this day and concentrate on non-violence and solidarity for those who suffer in our society.  Please come and join us for Mass and prayer on Wednesday, March 14 th .

Blessings!
Mrs. Knippel
