Dear Parents/Guardians,
As I write this letter to you we await another snow storm and another possible snow day. I know that Spring will come sooner or later but I would prefer sooner.
I would like to invite everyone to join the St. John Paull II Catholic School community for an informational meeting on School Safety and Crisis Management to be held in the St. Mary parish center on Thursday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM. The Middletown Police Department will make a presentation and will review our safety procedures at St. John Paul II School. There will be a question and answer period which will allow us to answer any questions you may have regarding school safety.
I also want to remind you that the March HSA meeting postponed from last week will be held on Wednesday, March 14th in the parish hall beginning at 6:30 PM. Also, due to the impending snow storm, the Butter Braid Pick up has been changed to Thursday, March 15th, from 2-5pm.
Wednesday March 14th has been designated as a national walk out of school day to promote school safety and gun control in wake of the school shooting in Florida that occurred on February 14th. High Schools across the nation will be staging controlled walkouts for 17 minutes in honor of the 17 victims. Here at St. John Paul II we will not walk out but we will conduct an extended prayer service on Wednesday morning to honor the victims of this tragic incident.
I would like to thank all the families who attended the 9:00 AM Mass with us at St. Pius on Sunday, March 4th. It was a great turnout and a wonderful way to thank the parishioners of St. Pius for their continued support of St. John Paull II Catholic School.
Just a reminder that grades 3-5 will be on their field trip to Mystic on Thursday, March 15th, and on Monday, March 19th school will be closed as all teachers in the Diocese of Norwich will be attending a professional development day.
