Dear Reader

Today, we start a series on St. Maarten's tourism product in a post-hurricane Irma era that will consist of parts published over the coming 6 days.

Eventhough we want to build back better, we cannot continue doing the same things we have been doing in the past. One glaring example is the dump: we cannot continue dumping our garage there if we are to adapt and innovate our tourism product.

If we do, the next edition of the Idiot's Guide to the Caribbean may not include St. Maarten as a tourist destination.

It is a new week. We are starting all over again. I hope we make it.

Good luck!
