National Student Walkout

Students around the country are planning to walk out of classrooms over the next two months to protest gun violence and advocate for tougher gun control laws. While we respect your child's freedom of speech and passion, we have reminded students that they are supposed to be on campus and in class during the school day. We will not dismiss classes for any walkout or demonstration.

We are working with staff and students to find alternative ways for students to express themselves and send a meaningful message without leaving school grounds. Demonstrations that occur are expected to last for a limited period. Students are expected back in class after that time. Students who leave campus and don't return will receive an unexcused absence.

The planned nationwide school walkouts are scheduled for March 14 (National School Walkout), March 24 (The March for Our Lives - Washington D.C.) and April 20 (Change.org).

Please call your school principal if you have any questions.
