The year is getting off to a great start for Pulaski County! It’s time for us to reflect upon the past year’s accomplishments while keeping a keen focus on the future.

I am truly blessed and thankful to represent District 6 and be your voice on the Pulaski County Quorum Court. The decisions we make as a legislative body have a real and lasting impact on our communities development, beneficial youth programs and public safety. Understanding this, I never take my duty lightly and am humbled by the responsibility.

Helping people reach their goals and interacting with citizens is the highlight of my day. I believe it is imperative that we support programs and organizations that are making a positive impact in our community and uplifting our citizens.

Serving as the chair of the County’s Budget Committee, I worked with fellow elected officials to pass a fair and balanced budget that preserves funding for necessary youth and community services, while keeping expenditures down and without having to increase the tax burden on working families.

As a co-sponsor of the “Give 5” initiative to reduce the pet populations in animal shelters, the county raised nearly $50,000 in voluntarily contributions to provide pet owners financial assistance for spay and neuter services. Thanks to the generosity of Pulaski County residents, our “Bix Fix” event held November resulted in over 100 pets receiving necessary surgeries free of charge. Thank you to our partners Arkansans for Animals, Pulaski County Humane Society, Jacksonville Animal Shelter, Maumelle Animal Shelter, Sherwood Animal Shelter and the Little Rock Animal Village.
I was honored to attend the 9 th Annual Hawgs for Cause event to raise money and awareness for Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled. The AEDD is a wonderful organization that empowers children and adults with disabilities to improve their quality of life by providing community-based services that maximize individual choices, personal development, community inclusion, independence and their contribution to society.

Our Annual Pulaski County Champions of Youth dinner is an event near and dear to my heart. This is an important and worthwhile program that raises money and awareness for Pulaski County Youth Services’ year-round afterschool and out-of-school programs for students ages 5 – 19. Our youth programs are helping keep kids out of trouble, providing them with opportunities to make good life choices and build self-esteem.

Have a happy and fruitful new year!
