Rabbi's Sermon: Understanding Ourselves and Our God(dess) Delivered Friday, January 19, 2018
"Tonight we have prayed with words written by women and we have prayed to a God who we described in feminine language. On the surface, these changes might seem unremarkable, but, in reality, this kind of prayer experience - where women have shaped and are reflected in our prayers - is actually pretty miraculous. For the vast majority of Jewish history, the words of women have been excluded from synagogues. For hundreds of generations, the voices and bodies of women were seen as distracting to men and were therefore pushed out of the community's experience of public prayer. In the last two hundred years or so, courageous women and men have pushed our faith, our tradition, past these damaging restrictions and have opened up our sanctuaries to people of all genders. But, even still, for years and then decades, we celebrated the fact that women were now included in public worship, but we refused to change our texts in order for women to be able to see themselves reflected in the prayers."

Men's Club Business Networking Group - Sunday, February 11
The primary goal of our first session was to break the ice, enable members to get to know each other and each other's businesses. Mike Bonheim succeeded. Come join us for session two.
Our
second session will be led by John Prins (
Sunday, February 11 at 9:30)
A family's values, passed down through the generations, afford family members the confidence to be able to say, "And that's what it means to be a Goldberg!" Or, a "Nicholson would never do that!" They make us who we are.
John's interactive presentation will demonstrate the how and why those values are so key to developing an organization's shared values. He will facilitate a discussion of a) what comes next, b) the return on the investment of time and energy, and (c) how a values-based planning experience paves the way to meaningful strategic planning and contributes to a rich, healthy and productive company culture.

Recipe Book Request from Our Israeli Emissary
Hi everyone! I'm Bar Dgani, and I'm doing a gap year as a young emissary in Fairfield County.
I created a project to connect two amazing communities that became home for me: my Scouts Tribe Bazak and my home here in Westport.
I came up with the idea to share a recipe book because I believe food is one of things that symbolizes home!
So here is where your part comes in: I
would like you to send me recipes that remind you of HOME. It can be a simple schnitzel or even a crazy chocolate dessert! Whatever reminds you of home.
You can send it by text:
(203) 858-8294 o
r by email:
BarDgani1@gmail.com
In addition I want you to write very briefly why this recipe symbolizes home for you. For example: "Hi. I'm Yuval. I'm a leader in Bazak Tribe. I chose this chocolate balls recipe because every Friday night my mom makes it for dessert and we eat them together!"
