I wanted to bring to your attention the scheduled briefing by MDOT on the MAGLEV and Hyper-loop before the House Environment and Transportation Committee. The briefing will be on February 1 at 1 p.m. This is a briefing to the Committee by MDOT. The public is welcome to attend, however, briefings are not open to public testimony or questions from the public.

- Hover your browser over to House Environment and Transportation Committee
- Use drop down arrow to right of date shown
- Select On Air if watching live or select past due date of February 1
- Click arrow under PLAY
- You may have to press allow if you get a pop up and then briefing should start
I am also introducing three statewide bills which will address public notification issues, hearings, and limiting foreign investments in our infrastructure. There will be three hearings on these statewide bills.
The first bill requires counties to hold a public hearing if transferring an asset for use in a high speed transportation system as well as public notification by the transportation entity to all homeowners and businesses within 500 feet of the transferred asset.
The second bill requires municipal agreements if counties choose to sell assets to high-speed transportation systems.
The third bill addresses Public Private Partnerships (P3) projects and notification requirements and places limitations on foreign government investments.
I will be happy to notify you as to the dates of those hearings when they are scheduled. Public hearings are open to public testimony if a citizen signs up before the designated committee time for hearing witnesses. I will send those specific details when I send notification of the hearing dates.
